Samsung Electronics has announced a strategic collaboration with the Web3 gaming company Illuvium. As a part of this partnership, Samsung’s latest line of Web3-enabled TVs will showcase Illuvium’s NFTs, enhancing user experience by displaying digital art and in-game assets directly on their screens.
On August 9, Samsung revealed that its Web3 TVs would now support features from Illuvium, a blockchain-based game known for its detailed digital collectibles and expansive virtual worlds. This integration allows Samsung’s smart TV owners to exhibit their collected NFTs—ranging from in-game weapons to character suits—across Illuvium’s three main games: Overworld, Arena, and Zero.
Illuvium stated that this feature transforms traditional TVs into immersive art displays, offering a blend of entertainment and digital artistry with unparalleled clarity. This move enhances the visual experience at home and sets the stage for a new era in digital entertainment, leveraging Samsung’s extensive distribution network to bring blockchain technology into mainstream living spaces.
Upcoming Events and Exclusive Offers
Further promoting this partnership, Samsung plans to make a significant appearance at the upcoming Gamescom convention in Sydney, where Illuvium will be featured prominently. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore all three Illuvium games and participate in giveaways, including a chance to win one of ten exclusive GEN3RATOR NFTs. These NFTs grant access to special digital artworks and combine with Samsung’s Gen3 Chip NFTs to offer additional content and features.
Expanding Horizons in Web3
Samsung’s venture into Web3 began in 2019 with the creation of its Blockchain Wallet App, followed by the Blockchain Platform SDK, enabling developers to integrate Ethereum-based applications on mobile devices. In 2022, Samsung took a significant step by introducing a Web3 application on its smart TVs that included an NFT Platform for browsing and purchasing NFTs, developed in collaboration with Nifty Gateway.
The latest Web3 TV bundle, GEN3GATE, which launched in April, includes advanced features like an NFT Gallery, allowing users to display and interact with their NFT collections through their TV screens. This bundle also includes a special edition Ledger Nano X and further aligns with Samsung’s broader strategy to streamline Web3 experiences for its users.
