Shiba Inu now trades on a second major blockchain, though the market hardly seemed to care. Thanks to Sunrise, SHIB can be traded on Solana, yet at the time of writing the token hovered near $0.0000057 and its price had barely moved despite the wider reach.
That muted response says more than anything else here. Still, the integration is more useful than the price chart makes it look.
What changed for SHIB holders
With Sunrise, Solana markets can now reach the canonical version of the Ethereum token. In practical terms, SHIB can be traded directly within Solana’s decentralized finance (DeFi) apps, and users no longer need to leave the network to find it elsewhere.
What matters most is that this version is canonical. When there is no official version, a blockchain can fill up with several unofficial copies of the same coin. Those copies spread liquidity across rival pools, and trading gets worse for everyone.
Sunrise addresses this with a canonical mint approved by the issuer. That means a single token and a single recognized version.
SHIB isn’t leaving Ethereum
This isn’t a migration. SHIB launched as an ERC-20 token, and that original version remains on Ethereum.
Shibarium isn’t heading to Solana either. All Sunrise does is bring a canonical Solana representation of the asset over so it can trade in Solana’s markets.
Solana described Shiba Inu as “one of the largest communities in crypto” and noted that the project has moved past its origins as a meme coin with a dog mascot.
How Sunrise works
Sunrise is an asset gateway built on Wormhole Labs technology. It exists to bring assets from external blockchains onto Solana.
That job has three parts: creating or recognizing a canonical Solana token, provisioning liquidity, and connecting the token to wallets, decentralized exchanges and aggregators.
The meme coin pipeline keeps filling up
Monad’s MON was the marquee listing when Sunrise debuted in November 2025. The lineup has grown considerably since then.
In September, Dogecoin arrived on Solana through Sunrise and Wormhole NTT. PEPE came next on Sept. 18, when Solana said in a post that the Ethereum-based meme coin was now available across Solana applications through Sunrise.
SHIB is the newest addition to that list. If you hold the token and already spend most of your time in Solana wallets and DEXs, you now have more places to trade SHIB on-chain without bridging it yourself. Just don’t count on the listing to lift the price by itself. So far, it hasn’t.
