In a recent announcement, Sky Mavis revealed its plans to reduce its headcount by 21% in order to focus on business growth in 2025.
Co-founder and CEO Trung Nguyen highlighted the company’s upcoming priorities, which include Ronin Wallet/Waypoint, Mavis Marketplace, Axie Infinity, web3 game publishing, and expanding the Ronin network.
The decision to downsize the workforce, affecting around 50 positions, is part of a strategic move to sharpen the company’s focus.
Nguyen clarified that this restructuring is not due to financial constraints but rather aims to streamline operations for future expansion. He also mentioned that the remaining employees can expect increased expectations, but with greater rewards.
Looking ahead, Sky Mavis is set to transition Ronin into a fully open permissionless blockchain by Q1 2025.
This move will enable any game developer to launch and scale their games using Ronin’s platform. Additionally, the company teased the launch of a new title under the Axie Infinity IP, although specific details have not been disclosed yet. With these initiatives in place, Sky Mavis is gearing up for continued growth in both user base and developer network.
