Sonic SVM, the Solana-based blockchain gaming-focused Layer-2 infrastructure company, has launched the first Web3 game with an embedded wallet on TikTok, the world’s most popular video sharing app. The new game is called SonicX, and thanks to its embedded wallet, it simplifies the onboarding experience for TikTok users, allowing them to experience the benefits of decentralization and Web3 for the first time.
SonicX is a HTML5 clicker game that’s building on the success of the “tap-to-earn” games like Notcoin and Hamster Kombat on Telegram. The game is integrated directly within the TikTok app, so users can get started immediately, tapping the screen to generate rings that are hosted on-chain. By collecting rings, players will become eligible for additional blockchain-based rewards, potentially including crypto and NFTs.
The embedded wallet within the game supports account abstraction features that make it easy for users to recover their password without managing any private keys. Users simply log in via their TikTok account to get started, and all of their achievements and the rings they collect will be recorded on the blockchain. Players are tasked with climbing the game’s leaderboard and completing various daily challenges, and can earn additional rewards for referring their friends.
Sonic SVM, which is backed by $12 million in funding, is building the foundation of Solana’s blockchain gaming ecosystem. It has developed a novel infrastructure for Solana that developers can use to create game-specific rollups, or Layer-2 networks that bundle transactions together off-chain so they can be processed rapidly with lower costs.
It’s an area that’s ripe for growth. Although Solana is already a force to be reckoned with in DeFi, where its growing ecosystem rivals that of Ethereum, it has largely been ignored by blockchain game developers, due in part to the rise of gaming-focused blockchains like Immutable X. With its novel infrastructure, which leverages the Sonic Virtual Machine and HyperGrid, a robust horizontal scaling framework, Sonic SVM significantly boosts the performance and scale of Solana, transforming it into an ideal network for Web3 games.
One of the main advantages of SonicX’s embedded wallet is that users can easily export their private key in order to use it with other Web3 applications within the Solana ecosystem.
Chris Zhu, Co-founder & CEO, commented: “The way we simplified the SonicX login flow on TikTok allows us to tap into a totally new set of users globally. We are eager to further improve the user experience in TikTok and provide the same capabilities to tons of Solana applications.”
The release of SonicX on TikTok highlights the enormous potential of account abstraction wallets to accelerate adoption of Web3. Since launching last month, it has already onboarded more than 120,000 TikTok users into Web3 for the first time.
