Spanish soccer giant LaLiga has joined hands with gaming startup GameOn to introduce NFT fantasy soccer games aimed at fans in the U.S. and Canada. This collaboration will allow enthusiasts to engage in a new interactive experience using non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
A New Gaming Experience for Soccer Fans
Through this venture, soccer followers can purchase packs containing NFTs of LaLiga players. These NFTs can then be used to assemble fantasy teams. The performance of these virtual teams will mirror the real-world achievements of the La Liga players they represent. To enhance gameplay, participants can buy digital equipment, such as jerseys, cleats, or hats, which provide their in-game avatars with performance-enhancing boosts.
“We can’t wait to deliver next-gen fantasy games to millions of LALIGA fans, bringing them closer to the world’s best clubs and players,” said GameOn CEO Matt Bailey. “We’re focused on major league opportunities that leverage our scalable PLAYN3XT platform and drive highly profitable revenue growth. LALIGA is our execution in action.”
Engaging Features and Future Rollout
The LaLiga-themed web application by GameOn is set to make its appearance in the U.S. and Canada by the first quarter of 2024. This platform will incorporate social chat functionalities and opportunities for players to win coveted prizes like VIP match tickets, cash, autographed merchandise, and exclusive meetings with soccer stars. Importantly, GameOn aims to cater to both major LaLiga soccer divisions, namely the premier LaLiga EA Sports and the secondary LaLiga Hypermotion league.
