Splinterlands has officially launched Survival Mode, a new endurance-based gameplay feature designed to test players’ strategic skills.
In this mode, defeated cards enter a cooldown period, preventing their use in other battles until the cooldown expires or the season ends. This forces players to plan their battles carefully and manage their card usage over time.
How Survival Mode Works
Unlike other game formats, Survival Mode only rewards players with SPS (Splintershards), making it a test of dedication rather than quick wins. The SPS pool gradually refills, ensuring committed players earn more rewards as they progress. Glint rewards remain exclusive to the Modern and Wild formats, keeping Survival Mode focused on long-term engagement within the ecosystem.
To help players avoid unintentionally using their primary decks, Splinterlands has introduced a custom deck feature. This allows players to create a dedicated Survival Mode deck while keeping their Modern and Wild decks separate for other battles.
Leaderboard Updates and Long-Term Strategy
Alongside the launch of Survival Mode, Splinterlands has reworked its leaderboard system. Now, the top 100 players are rewarded with Glint, creating more incentives for competitive gameplay. This change encourages deeper engagement with the ecosystem, rewarding players who consistently participate and contribute to the game’s economy.
Another key aspect of this update is the focus on long-term investment in the Hive ecosystem. Players who continuously hold and grow their Hive Power (HP) will have better opportunities for rewards. Those who withdraw all their earnings without reinvesting may miss out on certain prizes, reinforcing a commitment to community growth.
A New Era for Splinterlands Players
Survival Mode is more than just a new game mode—it represents a shift toward strategy, endurance, and community-driven engagement. With a carefully designed reward system and a focus on sustainability, Splinterlands is ensuring that dedicated players benefit the most while strengthening the overall game economy. As the mode gains traction, it could redefine how blockchain-based gaming communities interact and evolve.
