Splinterlands unveils finished artwork for the six Mystery Cards in Visions of Verico

splinterlands unveils finished artwork for the six mystery cards in visions of verico In Brief:

In Brief:

  • Splinterlands (official site) has replaced the placeholder images on the six Mystery Cards in its Visions of Verico mini-set with their finished artwork.
  • Question marks had stood in for the art since the set launched June 30. Each card’s lore can now be read on its Lore tab.
  • In early August, card holders could enter a raffle to help design the art and lore. The prize also included a Gold Foil copy of every card in the set.

The six Mystery Cards in Splinterlands’ Visions of Verico mini-set now carry their final artwork. They had shown placeholder art since the set went on sale in June.

The studio announced the change on X: “The Visions of Verico Mystery Cards are revealed!” The post added: “Six characters. Six stories.”

According to the studio, the cards were created together with its community. Players who want the backstory behind the new characters can check the Lore tab on each card.

Question marks replaced

The new art arrived through a game update. “Today’s update replaces the question marks on your Mystery Cards with their new artwork,” Splinterlands said.

Card owners don’t have to take any action. The finished art appears on copies already in their collections.

The reveal lands three months after the set’s release. At launch, the Mystery Cards came with temporary artwork and lore, and the team promised the final versions would follow.

How the raffle worked

Splinterlands linked the Mystery Cards to a raffle planned for early August. The winner would get to help design the cards’ art and lore and would also receive a Gold Foil copy of every card in Visions of Verico.

Each copy a player owned counted as one entry, so holding more Mystery Cards improved the odds.

The studio’s post did not identify a raffle winner. It only said the six cards were made with the community.

The set

Visions of Verico is a limited edition mini-set of 54 cards. All of them are Commons. The set covers every Bloodline, and the cards give production bonuses for Toil and Kin on land.

A pack cost $2, and players who paid in Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) got 5% off. Each pack contained 20 Regular Foil cards, and Splinterlands limited supply to 250,000 packs.

The sale was short. In a July 28 update to the official release notes, the team said the Visions of Verico sale would “end in a couple of days following this update.”

Four new land abilities

The set also added four new land abilities, which rolled out in stages through July and August.

The first was Light Rationing. It cuts Grain consumption on plots producing up to 20,000 units and stacks with existing abilities. Glint Recovery, Alteration and Fortune Seeker followed.

Fortune Seeker went live on Aug. 18. Each week, it gives holders a chance to earn a Gold, Black or Arcane version of a Visions of Verico card.

Alteration drops cosmetics. Since then, Splinterlands has added four skin sets tied to it: Cyberpunk, Fabled, Prehistoric and Samurai.

A bet on scarcity

Ahead of launch, the studio said the Mystery Cards were meant to serve as collectibles as well as raffle tickets. Now that the final art is in, the six cards look like the rest of the set.

The original release notes summed up how to enter the raffle in a single line: “Each mystery card you own is a chance at winning this prize.”
