Upland (official site) rolls out Troves on Thursday, October 22, 2026. Upland is a location-based metaverse game in which players buy, sell and trade virtual properties tied to real-world addresses. The update brings three linked systems: collecting, Trove Banking and a new Progression System. Troves go live in beta and will remain in beta for the entire rollout, with 189 unique Troves available to collect in Phase One.

A video overview from Upland walks through collecting, banking, progression and the plans that follow launch.

What Troves are and where they come from

Troves are a game layer that links what players do to real-world locations in Upland. Nearly everything on the map can generate them, including properties, structures, map assets, Block Explorers, vehicles, plants, neighborhoods and service structures.

They fall into five categories:

  • Care Troves are earned by tending plants and animals.
  • Resource Troves are raw materials, often coming from STEM-bearing plants.
  • Social Troves are earned through community interaction.
  • Utility Troves are tools and components that feed into other recipes.
  • Valuables are the rarer items, and some can be traded.

The majority of Troves are bound to the player’s account. Players collect them at service structures like cafés, fire stations and supermarkets, from plants, and by petting plants in their neighbors’ gardens. The broader Troves design also covers fishing, farming, animals and trade routes, while racing and treasure hunting are slated for a later date. How many Troves a Block Explorer can gather is limited by its stamina.

Every Trove earned during Genesis Week will be wiped at launch, except Genome Troves, which stay in player inventories.

Trove Banking can’t be undone

With Trove Banking, players lock Troves into their collection permanently and show off those achievements in the Trove Vault. The decision is final. As Upland put it, “banked Troves cannot be withdrawn or used elsewhere.”

Every Trove has its own set of tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and beyond. Launch only opens Bronze and Silver, with higher tiers coming in later phases. Tiers don’t need to be unlocked in sequence, so a player holding enough of a Trove can skip straight to a higher one.

A numbered level on your profile

The Progression System adds a numerical level to every player profile. That level reflects Troves collected and banked, properties developed and milestones reached. It runs next to Upland’s current status ranks (Uplander, Pro, Executive, Director) without replacing them. Milestone rewards can include Map Assets, UPX and collectibles. Upland noted that beta progression rewards are subject to change and may not match the onboarding rewards planned for new players later this year.

Recipes, competitions and farming come later

No crafting recipes are available on launch day. Over the weeks that follow, Upland will add new recipes, Troves and banking tiers on a regular schedule. Recipes let players combine Troves at service structures. One example: a Wheat Trove plus a Milk Trove turns into a Bread Trove at a Bakery. Possible outputs include rare Troves, Uppies, SPARKLET, UPX, STEM and yield. Bulk recipes are planned so players can convert big stockpiles into other Troves.

Troves competitions will take place during the rollout, but no details have been shared yet. Farming is intended to let players collect Troves in far larger quantities, and automation is on the roadmap too, with Uppies stationed on properties to make collecting at scale workable. Farming, automation and bulk recipes are long-term goals and won’t be in the launch.

New structures and an optional sale

Upland added three public service structures to its store on October 15: the STEM Foundry, the UPX Mint and the Sparklet Refinery. Once their Troves functionality is switched on, each one will trade Troves for one of the game’s currencies. Pricing was 9.99 USD for the first 24 hours and 14.99 USD afterward.

Players can also join the optional Troves After Dark 2026 commemorative sale. Registration opened on October 20, and the sale itself runs from October 21 through Sunday, October 25. Bundles cost 20 USD each and contain 20,000 UPX and one Block Explorer with 150 stamina. Six Explorer designs are on offer (Rattlebag, Patchwick, Gribbin, Jinx, Flit and Spindle), each capped at 70 mints, and Upland has no plans for more. According to Upland, this is the final commemorative sale offering this stamina boost at this price and mint tier. Buying a bundle isn’t required to collect, bank or progress with Troves.

How Troves got here

Troves were first announced by Upland in May 2026, and an alpha ran during Genesis Week 2026. Upland originally aimed to ship Troves, Trove Banking and the Progression System before Harvest Season started on October 1.

In the run-up to launch, Upland pushed out phase one of its visual upgrade early, on October 2, saying it was “released early for Troves.” The opt-in upgrade changes the look of properties on the map, so owned properties now show a blue outline in place of a solid fill.

Upland went live in December 2019 and counts more than three million users. Once a player hits Uplander status, their properties become registered NFTs, and UPX serves as the in-game currency. What started as property trading has expanded into a larger world with structures, Block Explorers, vehicles, plants and Uppies, collectible characters that players can befriend, mint and merge to level up. Between August 1 and September 15, players were able to assign Uppies of Level 3 and above to their properties to look after plants. Upcoming plans include 3D movement for Uppies and automated Trove collection, in which Level 5 Uppies gather Troves from plants by themselves.
