The 512GB Xbox Series S is now priced at €499.99 across the eurozone. This is the budget-tier box, the machine Microsoft designed as the affordable entry point into the ecosystem, and as of this week it carries a 43 percent higher price tag than it did seven days ago.
Back in June, Microsoft flagged that another round of Xbox price hikes was coming, though the company only disclosed figures for the US market at that point. Pricing for the EU and UK has finally surfaced — and it lands harder than most observers had braced for.
Across the lineup, the increases reach as high as €200 or £170, varying by model.
The Series X takes the biggest absolute hit
Buyers after the 1TB Xbox Series X with a disc drive will now pay £669.99 / €799.99, up from £499.99 / €599.99 — a single adjustment worth more than 30 percent.
Meanwhile, the 512GB Series S climbs from £299.99 / €349.99 to £429.99 / €499.99, which works out to more than 43 percent. In relative terms, then, the cheapest console absorbed the harshest blow.
The remaining models follow suit. Previously listed at €399.99 / £349.99, the 1TB Series S now sells for €599.99 / £519.99. The 1TB Series X Digital, once €549.99 / £449.99, moves up to €749.99 / £619.99.
As for the 2TB configuration, it’s being discontinued altogether amid the storage crunch.
Everyone’s raising prices. Nobody’s raising them this much.
Rival consoles haven’t escaped increases either, with RAM and storage costs surging as the AI industry devours supply. Even so, none of those adjustments come close to this scale.
This marks the third such increase since May of 2025. The top-tier model is now $300 above the $499.99 it launched at in 2020.
Worth repeating: six years into its life cycle, this console costs $300 more than it did on launch day. Console pricing has simply never behaved this way.
What this means if you were about to buy one
The Series S used to be the case for Xbox. It was what you pointed friends toward when they balked at PlayStation money, and at €349.99 that pitch stood up by itself.
Spend €499.99 instead and you’re handing over near-flagship money for the least powerful current-gen hardware available. Anyone who’s been undecided on a Series S should hunt for retailers still clearing old stock at the previous price — that’s the only remaining version of this purchase that adds up.
