Animoca Brands has announced its participation in a A$20.7 million strategic investment round for DigitalX, a public digital asset management firm based in Australia.
The company also served as the sole advisor for the raise, helping bring in investors such as UTXO Management and ParaFi Capital. As part of the deal, Animoca’s co-founder and executive chairman, Yat Siu, will join the planned Strategic Advisory Board of DigitalX.
Supporting DigitalX’s Bitcoin Strategy
DigitalX, which manages Australia’s first ASX-listed spot Bitcoin ETF (BTXX), plans to use the new capital to implement a Bitcoin treasury strategy. This approach will add Bitcoin to the company’s balance sheet and strengthen its position in the digital asset space. Animoca Brands played a key role in arranging the investment by identifying DigitalX as a strategic opportunity and connecting it with a select group of global digital asset investors.
Yat Siu to Offer Web3 and Crypto Guidance
Yat Siu will join DigitalX’s upcoming Strategic Advisory Board, where he will advise on the company’s Bitcoin strategy and Web3 expansion. His expertise in blockchain and metaverse innovation is expected to bring value to DigitalX as it navigates the evolving landscape of digital finance.
Leigh Travers, who serves as director of emerging markets at Animoca Brands, is already a non-executive chair of DigitalX, making this partnership even more aligned. The involvement of both executives marks a step forward in combining blockchain infrastructure with traditional financial platforms.
In a statement, Yat Siu described Bitcoin as “the digital gold and reserve asset of the decentralized era” and emphasized that this partnership aims to make Bitcoin and Web3 technologies more accessible to mainstream investors.
