Yuga Labs Unveils “Outbreak”
Yuga Labs, renowned for its innovative approach in the digital realm, has initiated the beta testing of its latest game “Outbreak.” Set in the expansive universe of the Otherside metaverse, “Outbreak” introduces a thrilling zombie infection gameplay accessible to a broader audience, moving away from the exclusive tokenized access of previous games.
Game Dynamics and Accessibility
Described by Yuga co-founder and CEO, also known by the pseudonym Garga, “Outbreak” revolves around a simple yet engaging concept. “One guy’s got the plague and he’s got to chase everybody down and get them infected. Then at the end of the round, it’s a timed match, either the survivors win or the infected win,” explains Garga. This game is built using the Otherside Development Kit, similar to their earlier project “Bathroom Blitz,” an 8v8 shooter.
Initially, “Outbreak” offers a contained map that is set to expand through the course of its beta testing and subsequent updates, thus encouraging players to explore and stay engaged with the evolving gameplay.
A Step Forward in Gaming Engagement
Earlier in 2025, the Otherside metaverse achieved a notable milestone by setting a Guinness World Record for the most players concurrently online in a first-person shooter game, with a count of 2,197 participants. This achievement underscores the platform’s capability and potential in supporting large-scale interactive experiences.
