Gamescom Gets a Live Look at ONEchain’s AI Agent Economy

gamescom gets a live look at onechains ai agent economy In Brief:

In Brief:

  • Autonomous agents that “compete, create, trade and earn on-chain” will headline a ONEchain demo of an AI-native gaming economy set for Cologne on Aug. 26, according to the Blockchain Game Alliance.
  • Behind ONEchain is the rebranded CROSS (official site) mainnet, run by Korean studio NEXUS, which in June spent roughly 62.6 billion won to take an 89.03% stake in the app store ONEstore.
  • The session arrives after the BGA’s April report on agentic AI in gaming and the council it assembled with Deloitte and DMCC to set rules for agents that hold wallets.

Autonomous agents that “compete, create, trade and earn on-chain” are the centerpiece of a ONEchain demo of an AI-native gaming economy planned for Cologne on Aug. 26, the Blockchain Game Alliance said. A registration link for the session was posted by the BGA.

That slot lands on day one of the show. Gamescom 2026 runs from Aug. 26 through Aug. 30 at Koelnmesse and begins with a trade and media day; the general public can only get in from 1 p.m. with a premium Wildcard ticket. The evening before brings Opening Night Live, while the co-located gamescom dev conference finishes Aug. 25.

What happens when an AI agent stops acting like a scripted NPC—and becomes a real player?
At #Gamescom, @ONEchain_game will demo an AI-native gaming economy where autonomous agents compete, create, trade and earn on-chain.

What ONEchain is bringing

Carrying the pitch is ClawRoyale, the agent battle royale sitting at the top layer of the NEXUS stack. Games are fought across a 210-tile hex map, where agents collect $Moltz and ONE, mint their own ERC-20 tokens and pick up sponsorships from spectators following the action live.

The agents’ on-chain identities come in the form of Molty NFTs. Rooms that are free to enter pay out sMoltz, and agents put that currency toward entry fees for premium rooms.

Inside two months of launch, the title cleared 16 million cumulative participating agents. “Agent gaming is a world-first for Nexus, and it’s currently performing the best,” said NEXUS CEO Jang Hyun-kook.

Two further components round out the lineup. Natural-language instructions are translated by ONE Claw into DEX trades, token forging, NFT market actions, rewards, quests, bridging and staking. Marked as coming soon is NEXUS AI Labs, the internal team focused on multi-agent coordination, on-chain learning and economy simulation.

The chain underneath

ONEchain is the former CROSS mainnet. The rename came from NEXUS, which also traded the $CROSS ticker for $ONE. “Today, CROSS becomes ONE,” the project said, casting it as the same chain, same token and same team gathered under a single name.

$ONEUSD acts as the ecosystem’s common unit. Every pair on the Gametoken DEX has been priced and settled in ONEUSD since July 9.

A full EVM stack on Cancun/Prague powers ONEchain, paired with PoSA+BLS consensus. Mainnet 2.0 is already live and holds close to 2 million accounts.

The distribution play

Sign-off from the NEXUS board covered the purchase of 20,247,990 ONEstore shares — an 89.03% stake — at a cost of roughly 62.6 billion won, or about $40.74 million. June 18 was the date the company announced the deal.

The sellers were SK Square with 45.78%, Naver with 24.06%, Steel Number One First with 17.02% and Krafton with 2.17%. SK Square, Naver and Krafton then returned as strategic investors in NEXUS.

More than 38 million devices in Korea carry ONEstore, which ranks second nationally by game transaction value. July saw it come aboard as a validator on Mainnet 2.0, the third to do so after H Lab and CertiK.

For Jang, the acquisition is a way past the app store gatekeepers. Shipping Web3 games through Google’s and Apple’s stores, he said, forces changes to parts of the service that hurt user experience, and an independent, stable distribution channel becomes more important as AI unleashes a flood of Web3 games.

On July 7, NEXUS revealed nine games for ONE spanning the MMORPG, SLG, collectible RPG and TCG genres. Topping the slate is Frost Kingdom, the company’s first self-published title.

Why BGA is hosting it

Agent economies have been on the alliance’s roadmap for months. April brought “Agentic AI in Gaming and the Emerging Digital Economy,” a six-section report examining infrastructure constraints, agents operating inside live game environments, payments and KYC, and legal and operational realities. Automated actors, the report argued, require an identity layer at the agent level that is distinct from KYC or KYB.

From there, the BGA created the AI and Agentics Council alongside Deloitte and Dubai free zone DMCC, with Xsolla, SKALE, The Sandbox and WAM signing on as founding partners. Governance rules for agents that hold wallets and transact without human approval on every action are what the council is drafting.

Founded in 2018, the BGA says its membership spans more than 250 game studios and blockchain companies. The Sandbox co-founder Sebastien Borget has served as president since 2020.

NEXUS, meanwhile, reported 2025 revenue of roughly 36.7 billion won and operating profit of roughly 950 million won.
