No theme, prize pool or judging criteria was disclosed for v7. Each earlier edition has been built around one, and all of them have been small.
What the format looks like
Blitz is structured as a weekend hackathon. Entrants build on Ephemeral Rollups — MagicBlock’s temporary, just-in-time SVM runtimes that deliver sub-50 millisecond execution and gasless transactions while settling state back to Solana mainnet.
The sixth version took place July 10 to 12 alongside Solana Mobile and Blueshift. Mobile was the theme, $1,000 was on the table, and the organizers shipped templates aimed at teams building Seeker apps.
Prior rounds kept that shape but swapped the subject matter. Version 4 centered on agents and yielded 32 projects over a single weekend. Version 5, unveiled in June, was trading-focused.
Per-event totals have held steady since the series launched. Solana Blitz v0 closed out in late February with winners chosen from 30 projects, and v1 attracted the same number.
Where the series stands
As of mid-May, MagicBlock had staged four Blitz editions in 2026, and it had also seeded a separate 47-project track within the Solana Privacy Hackathon, supported by $5,000 in bounties for real-time private applications.
The cumulative tally moved past 200 Blitz projects by June. That same month, the company said its VRF usage reached an all-time high, Ephemeral Rollup sessions rose 8x and FlashTrade V2 launched on public mainnet.
Within MagicBlock’s developer funnel, Blitz occupies the low-cost tier. The company’s Real-Time Hackathon dangled a $10,000 grant plus a route into Solana’s Colosseum accelerator. Blitz offers four figures and a deadline.
The company behind it
MagicBlock was founded in September 2023 by Andrea Fortugno and Gabriele Picco, who run it from Singapore. The two pivoted toward Ephemeral Rollups after running into latency ceilings on a fully onchain game they had been prototyping.
Pre-seed funding of $3 million came from a16z’s crypto startup accelerator, which the team joined in the Spring 2024 cohort. April 2025 brought a $7.5 million seed round led by Lightspeed Faction, joined by Maven11, Delphi Digital, Robot Ventures, Mechanism Capital, Equilibrium and Pivot Global. Angel backers included Anatoly Yakovenko, Mert Mumtaz and Tristan Yver. Funding now totals $10.5 million.
The validator has been open-sourced under BSL 1.1, with v0.8.8 released on April 17. Halborn handled the audit of the Delegation Program, while Zenith reviewed the Solana VRF program.
On privacy, MagicBlock introduced TEE-secured Ephemeral Rollups in September 2025 and delivered a Private Payments API to Solana mainnet in March, processing confidential SPL transfers via Intel TDX enclaves.
Following a February presale, the $BLOCK token generation event remained undated as of May.
What builders have made with it
Integrations include Flash Trade, Supersize, dTelecom, Pyth Lazer and Jito. MagicBlock’s community numbers more than 44,000 Discord members and over 45,000 followers on X.
Blitz output is narrower in scope but concrete. Veil, a v5 build, is a private DEX frontend operating on Private Ephemeral Rollups. Users shield SPL tokens into a private rollup, stream live swap quotes, execute trades with private visibility, then unshield back to Solana L1.
