The Early Access label comes off the finest Stardew Valley-like on Steam at noon ET today.

Fields of Mistria goes 1.0 across the globe, and for anyone who has spent years scrolling past endless carousels of farming sims trying to figure out which deserves a weekend, this is it.

The genre got crowded fast

When Stardew Valley arrived in 2016, it triggered something nobody had mapped out in advance. There was a time when you could count its pursuers. That count now runs into the hundreds.

Steam is packed with them. Most bleed into one another.

Fields of Mistria doesn’t, and player reviews confirm it. NPC Studio’s game holds an “overwhelmingly positive” rating as of publication, and that is not a score any title trips into by chance.

What it actually is

The developers keep their pitch brief: “Start your new life – Build the farm of your dreams as you discover a world brimming with possibilities. Magic, romance, and adventure all await you in this nostalgic farming/life sim RPG.”

Farming, then. Romance too. That is the Stardew side of the equation, and it lands.

The magic and adventure, though, are drawn from a completely different well — nearer to vintage Legend of Zelda than to anything involving crop rotation. Rather than sitting side by side, the two halves fold into each other, and that’s precisely the trick most imitators fumble.

The 1.0 details that matter

A freshly published official FAQ settled the questions players were genuinely asking.

Early Access saves transfer over. No fresh file is required for achievements, which will be granted retroactively — honestly the right call.

The studio also states it has “no plans” to bump the price for the full release.

Nor does 1.0 mark the end. Additional content is on the roadmap beyond the core launch.

About the translations

Localization remains a work in progress, and the team said as much plainly: “Gameplay features and content in the 1.0 update will be accessible by any player regardless of selected language, but translated text (particularly for late-game features) may be missing or incomplete initially depending on the selected language. The Beta localizations will be updated and improved regularly until they are ready to be considered fully released. If a piece of text is unavailable in your selected language, it will temporarily appear in English.”

No content is walled off. A bit of late-game text may simply appear in English until the beta translations catch up.

Console players, sit tight

Asked about “potential ports,” the studio offers little for now. Its attention is on the Steam launch, and ports will be “evaluated” once things have settled on PC.

So for the moment it’s a Steam title. Noon ET, the same price as before, and your old farm right where you left it.
