Yakkamon’s X account hijacked — the studio starts over at @yakkamon_game

• Rather than fight for the handle, Yakkamon dropped it — the team now posts from @yakkamon_game and calls that its only X account.
• The hijacking landed during Season 0 pre-registration, the sign-up that controls early access and a Monster NFT airdrop.

The warning came from Ronin: Yakkamon’s X account had been compromised. Followers were told not to interact with any links from it, and Ronin said it would post an update once the team had control again.

That never became necessary, because Yakkamon walked away from the handle altogether. The team’s official account is now @yakkamon_game. The old one, it says, is out of its hands, and nothing posted there — posts, links or direct messages — should be trusted. The handle now serves X’s account-suspended notice.

Warnings spreading alongside the compromise included one from Adam Hannigan, founder and CEO of developer Thought Farm, who likewise told people to click nothing coming from the account.

What the team told players

Progress is untouched, according to the team. Anything a player has earned stays earned, and any X account already tied to a Yakkamon profile holds on to its weekly points.

The X quests were taken offline, with a return to the site planned. Once they are back, players will need to reconnect and follow @yakkamon_game so that quest credit lands on the correct account.

Three official channels were named, and no others: the site at yakkamon.com, @yakkamon_game on X, and documentation at docs.yakkamon.com.

Bad timing

The timing was awkward. The account fell during Season 0 pre-registration, which had only recently opened on Ronin, with 3,000 first-come, first-served access codes reserved for the Ronin community.

Signing up costs nothing and requires only an email address — no wallet, and no Sunflower Land account needed to take part.

No new token is involved either. Yakkamon runs on $FLOWER, the shared token across Thought Farm’s games, and depositing $FLOWER early converts into pre-registration points. Those deposits can be withdrawn or spent in-game once access arrives.

A Monster Egg goes to every sign-up — an in-game item, not an NFT. Further up, the leaderboard’s top 5,000 trainers collect a Monster NFT through the Trainer Point airdrop, while the top 1,000 get Legendary Monster NFTs. Pre-registered trainers additionally get into a free mint of 10,000 Monster NFTs on Ronin.

Early access rolls out in waves during Q4 2026, limited to the leaderboard’s top 100,000 trainers. A live points race, an NFT airdrop hanging off it and a hard cap on entry make for precisely the conditions phishing crews look for, since followers are already conditioned to click a claim link.

Who is behind the game

Yakkamon is a creature collector crossed with idle farming, built by Thought Farm, Hannigan’s Sydney studio. His listed roles there span CEO and founder as well as game designer and solution architect.

What is now a studio began as a side project among three friends, under the name Sunflower Farmers. It went viral in January 2022 and clogged Polygon for a week.

The studio’s current title, Sunflower Land, claims more than 1 million players and over 100 open source contributors built up across five years of open development. Ronin is new ground: Yakkamon is Thought Farm’s first game on the network.

Separately from the hack, one quest is still switched off. The Discord quest is temporarily disabled while the team rebuilds its reward structure — points banked so far remain valid, and every other quest continues to run.

A seed phrase or private key will never be requested by Yakkamon, the team stressed. An email address is the only thing pre-registration ever asks for.
