Game of Thrones: Dragonfire has brought in the White Stag, and the creature pushes back far harder than the old stories would have you believe.

Running September 17 to September 23, the Kingswood Hunt is a limited-time event. White Stag Encounters are seeded across the campaign map; you hunt them down, you take them on, and you end up staging your own take on the royal hunt Westeros has spent generations turning into myth.

There’s no cost to join, and it’s already underway.

Why a deer matters this much

Westerosi folklore has always bound the White Stag — the White Hart, in some tellings — to royalty, destiny and the favor of the gods. Season 1 of House of the Dragon brought it to screen in the episode “Second of His Name.”

Viserys and his hunting party were hoping the animal would turn up as a favorable omen for the young Aegon. That never happened. The genuine White Stag instead revealed itself to Rhaenyra Targaryen, and she allowed it to leave unharmed.

In the narrative, readers and characters alike took that as one more portent in favor of Rhaenyra’s claim on the Iron Throne. Dragonfire is now putting the very same symbol in front of anyone who opens the Events panel.

How the hunt actually works

The Kingswood is accessed via the Events panel, and points come from taking on White Stags in encounters dotted around the map. Every attempt drains Resolve — a dedicated event energy that refills on its own over time and can also be restocked once a day using Gold.

Tile adjacency isn’t a requirement here, and that single detail reshapes how you map out your day. Spot a stag anywhere and you can take a swing at it.

Winning the fight also won’t grant you the tile. It clears it.

The stag fights back

Keep an eye on Crowned Decree. The ability comes with a 35% chance of landing 125% Physical damage, and it can leave its target Staggered for a round.

On an energy budget this tight, that’s a meaningful blow. Burn through Resolve without thinking and you’ll be spending Gold just to keep playing.

A very full year for Westeros

Westeros has had plenty to offer in 2026 already. House of the Dragon closed out Season 3 and at last depicted how events at Tumbleton unfolded on screen. The Mad King opened to a stellar run at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. And Dragonfire arrived to critical acclaim, ranking among the year’s finest mobile titles.

The 2027 slate is no lighter: Season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, another staging of The Mad King in London, and the release of War for Westeros, a real-time strategy game.

The Kingswood, though, is the one within reach this week — and only this week.

Rhaenyra spared hers. You’re being invited to do the very opposite, in exchange for points.
