Ten classes. A single curse. And not one wallet-warrior sitting at the top of the ladder, waiting to farm you the moment you log in.
That’s the sell behind Raven2 – Zero, the new server Netmarble has opened for its dark fantasy MMORPG, and it’s a sharper proposition than the usual “fresh start” press release. Across 155 countries, the base game already has players fine-tuning custom avatars down to the smallest detail before dropping them into a world where staying alive is the daily job. Zero doesn’t touch that world. What it changes is who gets a real shot at competing in it.
The problem Zero is actually solving
There is a great deal of fighting in Raven2 — enough that anyone arriving late can feel locked out of the adventure before they’ve worked out where anything is. You turn up months behind, the veterans are already geared, and the PvP arithmetic never lands on your side.
Zero’s response is a rebuilt progression system and a reworked competitive structure pointed directly at players without a foothold. Quest requirements have been cut back sharply. Monster kills hand out more EXP. Accuracy balance has been re-adjusted, so pushing through hunting areas no longer means battling the numbers as well as the demons.
The idea is simple: you keep pace by playing. Not by paying.
What’s been taken off the table
This is the part that carries the most weight. Mythic-grade Holy Garments, Familiars and Awakenings aren’t obtainable on Zero — they’ve been excluded from the server altogether.
In their place sits a range of Holy Garments and Familiars, the top-graded gear Zero offers, handed out through events. Progress comes from inside the game for everybody. No one cracks open a wallet on launch day and jumps straight to the end.
It’s a blunt fix, and blunt fixes tend to be the ones that stick.
Farming, for once, pays
Take rival players out of the hunt and an MMORPG becomes the thing people fell for in the first place. Zero pushes hard in that direction with boosted equipment drop rates on field loot — a fair exchange for the hours you’ll spend on fields crawling with abominations.
Field hunting also generates a new currency, Farming Crystals, obtainable only by playing. There is no shortcut. Crystals convert into key Shop items, so the grind pays out directly. And with the revised accuracy figures, your attacks connect during large-scale battles rather than evaporating into a string of misses.
The welcome package is not small
Every newcomer receives the [Zero] Special Starter Package, which opens with Heroic-grade Holy Garments and Familiars. Added to that are 550 Summon scrolls along with Legendary Holy Garments and Familiars — enough to carry a character forward without the grind eating your entire month.
Further Heroic-grade equipment and level milestone rewards come through additional events, all of them serving the same purpose: keeping the pressure to spend low.
Returning players get a lane of their own. Welcome Back events distribute a Legendary Holy Garment and Familiar, 330 Summons and more, running in parallel with a Burning Event designed to accelerate progression. If you walked away from Raven2 at some point and never quite shook the guilt, this is your opening.
The new kid problem
Signing up for an established MMORPG is a lot like switching schools halfway through the year. The friend groups have formed, the pecking order is settled, and you’re the one standing with a tray, scanning for a table.
Zero levels that by starting everyone from the same place on the same day. Violence hasn’t gone anywhere on this server — it’s simply directed at monsters instead of at whoever logged in three weeks behind you.
Either way, the Cursed Stigma marks you, and you’re sent out to slay demons and look into strange occurrences across a dying land. It’s a brutal existence. On Zero, at least it’s one you carve for yourself.
