Axie Vibeathon finalists announced

Eight community finalists have made it through to the second round of the Axie Vibeathon, where they will polish and expand their projects. The initiative is designed to push innovation by opening up new gameplay dimensions for Axies.

To help with their work, each finalist will be given 250 USDC, and the complete Round 2 guidelines are due out on October 9. Across the whole competition, 20,000 bAXS is up for grabs.

Competition structure

In Round 1, prototypes were scored on five criteria: Axie Core integration (35%), gameplay quality (25%), product vision (20%), feasibility (10%), and the quality of prototypes and documentation (10%). Every submission received three independent scores during judging.

Presented in alphabetical order, the finalists span a wide variety of game ideas:

  • Axie Auto Battler: After drafting a team of Axies, players send them into automated fights, either working their way up the rankings or taking on enemy waves in challenge modes.

  • Axie League: A tower defense strategy title in which the class and body parts of each Axie decide its battlefield role and how it links with others.

  • RPG Adventures with Axies: Players assemble formations and plan battle tactics with their Axies, whose body parts shape their combat skills.

  • Team Up with Chimeras: A creature-collecting game with turn-based fights, where every Axie’s evolved body parts unlock distinct abilities.

  • Tactical RPG using Axies: Taking cues from games such as Final Fantasy Tactics, this entry relies on Axie genes to define each character’s combat skills.

  • Farming and Combat: Players build up farms and fight off enemies to collect resources, which in turn boost their farming capabilities.

  • 3D Tactical RPG: Built around grid-based battles through Lunacia, this game lets players draw on their Axies’ genes to gain tactical advantages.

  • Roguelite Adventures: Players guide characters through procedurally generated levels, leveling up as they advance.

Timeline and community engagement

Kicking off on October 11, Round 2 will accept entries until November 7, with the final showcase slated for November 12. Throughout this stage, finalists will draw on player feedback from early releases to sharpen their designs. A dedicated thread for each finalist’s game will be set up in the Axie Discord so community members can share their thoughts.

The Axie team encouraged players to be specific: “Tell them where you got stuck or what kept you playing. A specific observation gives them something to work with.”

With the competition moving forward, player input could play a part in shaping the next generation of Axie games.
