In Brief:
- Sleepagotchi developer Gotchi Labs, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is now taking registrations for a $CHI community sale on Sonar, the public sale platform run by Coinbase-owned Echo.
- No date, price, valuation or allocation size has been announced for the sale yet.
- $CHI takes over from the $SLEEP token and is intended to work across the multi-vertical consumer AI business that Gotchi Labs is building around specialized AI agents.
Registration is now open for a community sale of Gotchi Labs’ $CHI token on Sonar. The sale will run on Echo’s self-hosted public sale product.
The Sleepagotchi account on X announced the sale and asked users to sign up, with the post including the line “Powered by @echodotxyz × @coinbase”. The post did not mention a date, token price, valuation, hard cap or per-wallet allocation.

From $SLEEP to $CHI
$CHI is the $SLEEP token under a new name. According to Gotchi Labs, it needed a token that could support several product lines rather than a single sleep app.
The token will launch on Solana with a maximum supply of 1 billion. Planned uses include AI credits, subscriptions, staked user tiers, gamified rewards, marketplace access, partner campaigns and cross-vertical commerce. Governance is also listed as a possible use.
The published design has users spending $CHI on subscription discounts and premium agent features, and staking it to unlock higher tiers. Wellness brands and coaches would stake the token to be listed on the platform and run campaigns.
Gotchi Labs is aiming for a token generation event in the fourth quarter of 2026. It has not named an exact date and said the timeline depends on technical and operational readiness.
No eligibility rules for a $CHI airdrop have been published. The company has said any airdrop will not be based on gameplay or sleep tracking, and that in-app points have no monetary value on their own. The whitepaper reportedly bars South Korean residents from app-linked distributions.
The agent plan
Gotchi Labs set out its expansion plans in September. The first vertical is health and wellness, which Sleepagotchi runs. Shopping and commerce, fitness and exercise, productivity and daily life, and personal finance are set to follow.
Each vertical would be run by a specialized AI agent. The company already has an AI Sleep Coach live. It has also described a Wellness Coach that connects sleep data to broader habit patterns, a Meal Planner that links nutrition to wellness scores, and a planned Shopping Agent.
For Sleepagotchi, the company reported more than 500,000 registered users and around 80,000 daily active users. It also cited 2 million all-time Telegram users on Sleepagotchi Lite (official site), 41% yearly retention, and over $100,000 in revenue during a three-week beta.
According to the company, 78% of users open the app within 10 minutes of waking up.
Funding and leadership
Gotchi Labs says it has raised $6.5 million in total, including a $3.5 million seed round. Its backers include 6th Man Ventures, Collab+Currency, Sfermion, 1kx, Alliance, GSR and Signal Labs.
The September restructuring also brought leadership changes. Founder Anton Kraminkin became a strategic advisor, and games industry veteran Kenny Wood took over as CEO. Signal Labs founders Shalini Wood and Aditya Julka came on as growth partners.
On Sept. 23, Sleepagotchi and Gotchi Labs joined Welcome3, an invite-only network of founders, investors, exchanges and service providers.
Sonar under Coinbase
Coinbase announced on Oct. 21, 2025, that it was acquiring Echo in a cash-and-stock deal worth nearly $375 million. Echo was founded by Jordan Fish, the trader known as Cobie. Earlier Sonar sales on the platform include Plasma’s XPL and Octra’s OCT.
With Sonar, projects can run their own public sales in formats such as auctions, options drops, points systems and variable valuations. The platform handles KYC and compliance checks. It also connects to Echo’s eID attestation passport, which lets existing Echo users register for a sale with one click.
When the deal was announced, Cobie said Echo would “remain a standalone platform under its current brand for now, but we will integrate Sonar’s public sale product into Coinbase”.
Before the acquisition, Echo said it had helped projects raise more than $200 million across 300 completed deals since it launched in March 2024.
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said at the time: “Excited to be adding Echo and Sonar to Coinbase to give our customers new token access opportunities.”
