Season 0 of EverMagic, a 2D pixel-art MMORPG, begins on October 20. This is the first official alpha test season to carry a real prize pool, and players will compete for a cut of it. You can download the game from the Epic Games Store.
The team has collected the core rules from its official Alpha Wiki into one guide, written for both free-to-play testers and players going after the top positions. It covers season scoring, gear, guilds and the cost of dying.
Season scoring
Rewards depend on performance, and performance is measured by how much GOLD you generate in total. GOLD is the game’s currency. The developers fund the opening pool, which then grows as players spend on store consumables, namely the Game Pass and Stamina Potions.
Game access shuts off when Season 0 finishes. The full pool is then divided by all the GOLD earned by every player, and that figure decides how much $EVA a single unit of GOLD is worth. Payouts go to the wallet you entered the game with. To keep inflation in check, GOLD is also removed through in-game sinks.

Game Pass, Stamina and playing for free
Full access to the game comes with the Game Pass, which has a reference price of $30. After hunting energy (Stamina), it’s the second-biggest contributor to the prize pool.
If you’d rather not pay, DEMO mode hands you 100 Stamina that never recharges. That gets you to around level 10 to 15.
Referrals run through the Academy Pass. You buy it in the store and trade it to a “student.” Whenever monsters drop GOLD for that student, a fee of 10% to 30% is automatically set aside for the mentor, who picks it up from the Mentor NPC in the city.
Heaven Stones and gear refining
Gear progression has 5 tiers. To refine an item you need stones, which monsters drop while you hunt. Stones come in 5 tiers too, and the stone’s tier must match the item’s tier. A successful refine boosts base attributes and cuts the odds of losing the item on death, by as much as 50% at +10.
Gear never breaks. A failed refine either consumes the stone, or comes with a penalty that knocks the item down one refinement level.

Bosses
Each map holds at least one boss along with mini-bosses, and the map marks all of them with the letter M. Once killed, a boss comes back after 3 hours.
Guilds and the Guild Dungeon
Joining a guild gets you safety in numbers, a bonus to XP gain, passive skills and entry to the Guild Dungeon (DG).
- Guilds level up with Guild Points (GP), capping at level 5. You earn GP from quests and from Map Wars, which means killing members of rival guilds or players who aren’t in a guild.
- Every guild level unlocks more player slots, reaching 150 at level 5.
- Starting at guild level 2, a guild can spend GOLD to choose 2 of 4 passive options and level them up to 5. Changing a passive later means paying for it again with no refund, even if the guild owned it before, and the stat bonus of the passive being replaced drops to zero.

Guilds at tier 3 and above can enter the Guild Dungeon. No single guild owns it: all qualifying guilds can go in, and PvP is active inside. Only bosses and mini-bosses spawn in the dungeon, drop rates are far higher than elsewhere, and the game’s strongest accessories can drop there. Entry costs 20 Stamina per minute. It runs for 1 hour 30 minutes twice a day on a fixed global schedule, at 14:00 UTC and 22:00 UTC.
PvP, Infamy and Honor
You switch PvP on in the Actions menu (J). After you attack, the PvP flag stays active for 5 minutes from your last hit.
- If you have PvP on and kill someone, you become PK.
- If you kill a player who already has PvP active while your own PvP is off, it counts as self-defense and you don’t become PK.
- Dying as a PK increases your chance of dropping items.
- Turning PK gives you 5 Infamy and increases the drop penalty.
- Killing a PK either raises your Honor or reduces your Infamy. Each +5 Honor lowers your drop chance.
The risks
According to the developers, individual results depend on the competition rules and profit isn’t guaranteed. They add that in-game purchases and benefits carry limits and risks, and that the latest values and rules are always in the official game interface. EverMagic’s token is $EVA from EverValue Coin.
