Animoca Brands has officially strengthened its partnership with blockchain gaming studio Cross The Ages by purchasing CTA tokens from the open market and supporting the development of its next game, Arise.

The announcement includes both strategic backing and financial investment, underlining Animoca’s continued belief in the long-term potential of Cross The Ages and its expanding universe.

New Game “Arise” Set to Expand the CTA Universe

At the center of this partnership is Arise, a free-to-play multiplayer action RPG set in the Cross The Ages world. Built with Unreal Engine 5 and scheduled for a PC release in late 2025, the game allows players to shape their roles in the economy as warriors, builders, farmers, or traders. It promises diverse gameplay, including PvP battles, dungeon exploration, and resource exchange. Later versions are also planned for Mac and additional platforms.

The project aligns with Animoca’s strategy of supporting high-quality blockchain games that integrate real digital ownership and player-driven economies. The company will assist with the game’s rollout and also provide input on future updates to CTA’s trading card game, known as Blast.

Token Support and Ecosystem Growth

Alongside game development, Animoca has reaffirmed its commitment to the CTA token, which powers all projects in the Cross The Ages ecosystem. The token is used for minting NFTs, trading assets, and accessing various features across the platform. Animoca’s open market purchase of CTA tokens and advisory role are expected to strengthen the token’s utility and liquidity.

This isn’t the first time Animoca has supported the CTA project. In 2024, it led a $3.5 million equity funding round to help expand the CTA multimedia universe. The two companies have maintained a close relationship since 2021.

Yat Siu, co-founder of Animoca Brands, praised the CTA team’s dedication to building top-tier Web3 experiences. He noted that the development of Arise on Unreal Engine 5 is a strong example of what AAA crypto games can look like.

Cross The Ages CEO Sami Chlagou echoed this sentiment, pointing to years of collaboration with Animoca and calling this renewed support a significant step in their shared journey. The goal is not just a single game, but a full platform for transmedia storytelling and interactive blockchain experiences.
