In Brief:
- AFK Heroes (official site) now offers live 1v1 PvP duels, pairing real players against each other in real time.
- The duels include three classes and 15 skills. Players can hand the fight to the AI or control it themselves.
- The new mode takes over from the game’s earlier turn-based PvP, in which two heroes traded turns.
Live 1v1 duels have arrived in AFK Heroes. The update moves the game’s PvP away from alternating turns and into real-time matches between players.
In a post on X announcing the feature, the team wrote: “PvP used to be two heroes taking turns. Not anymore.”

Not anymore.
LIVE 1v1 duels are here in AFK Heroes: real players, real time, 3 classes, 15 skills. Let the AI fight, or take control.

The team said each duel pits real players against one another in real time, drawing on three classes and 15 skills. Players also decide how involved they want to be: “Let the AI fight, or take control.”
A trailer came out alongside the announcement. The team didn’t say how matchmaking works, what the rewards are, or whether duel results affect $AFKHERO.
A break from the idle loop
The new mode runs against the game’s basic design. In AFK Heroes, heroes fight monsters, collect loot and earn $AFKHERO automatically, even when the player isn’t around.
Because AI control is optional, that idle approach still works in PvP. Players who would rather direct the fight can control it manually.
The three classes are the same ones already in the game. New players choose a knight, mage or rogue at the start.
PvP arrived in Season 2
AFK Heroes first added PvP in Season 2, which launched July 24. The same update brought guilds, crafting, tournaments, server-wide zone bosses and a Powerball feature.
Season 3 arrived on Aug. 28. It reset all heroes to level 1 and tripled reward pools.
Under the game’s guild system, guild members can earn up to 25% more $AFKHERO.
Mining went live this month
The duels arrive shortly after mining launched in October. Mining lets players pull a hero out of combat and send it to a mine. The mine has three zones of 91 hexes each, along with pickaxes, hauls and hexes the community can unlock.
When the team announced mining, it said: “Flip one switch and your hero leaves the battlefield for the mine.”
The game is also on the Solana dApp Store, where Seeker phone owners can claim a one-time welcome pack with gear, potions and boosts.
Background
AFK Heroes launched in June 2026 as a free-to-play browser game on Solana, so there’s nothing to download. Players connect a wallet such as Phantom or Solflare and send a voxel hero across nine zones to level up and find gear.
The combat zones range from Frozen Spire at level 40 to Singularity Vault at level 90 and above. Players can withdraw the $AFKHERO they earn to their own wallets.
The token launched on Pump.fun with a total supply of 1 billion. Optional starter packs sell gear, gold and potions, but the game said players don’t need them.
The announcement summed up the new mode in one line: “real players, real time, 3 classes, 15 skills.”
