Saltwater Games, a UK-based web3 and XR gaming company, recently announced that it has received funding from Animoca Brands. The funding was raised through a seed SAFT round for Saltwater’s upcoming XR token, although the exact amount raised was not disclosed.
Saltwater Games consists of three studios: Nexus Labs, which develops and publishes web3 games; Maze Theory, focusing on VR and spatial gaming; and Saltwater Labs, which is dedicated to emerging technology in web3 and AI.
The funding from Animoca Brands aims to facilitate the integration of Saltwater’s XR One with Animoca’s membership network, Mocaverse. This integration will provide cross-community benefits to enhance various live-ops gaming experiences.
Earlier in February 2024, Saltwater Games announced a $5.5 million seed round following the acquisition of game developers Maze Theory, Nexus Labs, and Quantum Interactive. Some of the current games in Saltwater’s portfolio include Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom, Celeros, The Infinite Inside, and Resurgence.
Saltwater Games continues to make strides in the web3 and XR gaming space, with the support of funding from Animoca Brands to drive innovation and growth in the industry.
