In Brief:
- Classic players of Axie Infinity (official site) can now jump into Quests and Tower Mode.
- The Season Championship lands on September 19 and 20, with 3,000 bAXS on the line.
- Topping the Arena Leaderboard earned Mitsuya a slot in the Classic Champions Invitational.
New gameplay features and upcoming events
Two new gameplay options have arrived in Axie Infinity Classic, with Quests and Tower Mode opened up to the entire player base. Rewards such as Dust or Gold come from clearing skill-based quests or climbing Tower Mode, a PvE gauntlet that gets harder the further up you go.
Season Championship details
Wrapping up the competitive season is the Season Championship, set for September 19 and 20 at 6 PM PH / 6 AM EST. It runs as a closed bracket for the Top 16 finishers from the S16 Arena Leaderboard, and the prize pool totals 3,000 bAXS.
Competitors draw from a 10-axie pool with three bans, and both Artifacts and Gear are permitted without caps. A few restrictions are in force, among them a rule that no two axies may share four of the same parts.
Mitsuya’s achievement and upcoming events
First place on the Arena Leaderboard went to Mitsuya, which books a spot in the Classic Champions Invitational. That event is scheduled for September 27, 2023, and additional details are expected shortly.
Transition to community management
This is the last offseason that Sky Mavis will steer directly. Going forward, the Axie Governance has set up the Classic Origins Resurrection Committee (CORC) to steer what comes next. Funding for the handover starts with the ecosystem fund before moving over to the Community Treasury in time, and legal groundwork is being laid to hand off the intellectual property and infrastructure.
From here, the community writes the next chapter of Classic, and further updates are promised as those plans take shape.
