Axie Infinity (official site) enables summoning of new Origin axies
Atia Original Crystal redemption is now open on App.axie, giving Axie Infinity players a route to mint fresh Origin axies. The feature arrives after years of waiting that stretch back to the 2018 presale, and summoned axies can come with Mystic attributes attached.
Five Atia Original Crystals are burned to summon one Origin axie. Six body parts are rolled for each axie — eyes, ears, horn, mouth, back, and tail — and every part independently has a 7% chance of landing Mystic. A single axie can end up with several Mystic parts, but hitting two or more remains rare.
The current count stands at 1,375 Atia Original Crystals still in circulation, a supply capable of producing as many as 275 new Origin axies. According to the snapshot, a Sky Mavis wallet holds 1,232 AOC, with the other 143 spread across additional addresses. After the original system was shut down in early 2022, the AOC moved over to Ronin, and what remains has been set aside for community engagement and rewards.
A history of AOC
The Crystals date back to Axie’s earliest days, when they functioned as referral tokens during the presale. Burning five AOC on Ethereum for an Origin axie was the initial mechanic, and that path was retired in early 2022. Bringing AOC back into summoning speaks to a fresh wave of interest in the series.
How to summon an Origin axie
Summoning a new axie takes four steps:
- Head to App.axie and connect a wallet.
- Open the grid icon, then pick “Summon an Origin Axie.”
- Select the option to summon using five AOC.
- Approve the transaction in the wallet.
Because the number of available rolls is capped, moving quickly is advised.
The odds of pulling a Mystic part on any given Origin are far from trivial. Roughly one roll in three delivers at least one Mystic part, which is a strong incentive to take part. It is also possible that an upcoming roll produces the first axie ever to carry more than four Mystic parts.
Collectors and participants have held these Crystals since 2018. That wait is over, and rolling an Origin axie is finally on the table.
