Elixir Games brings back elixir.games as a Solana devnet arcade where AI-built games can become coins

elixir games brings back elixir games as a solana devnet arcade where In Brief:

In Brief:

  • Elixir Games is back with a relaunched elixir.games, which its X account says follows “over a year of silence.”
  • On the new site, users build games with AI, play them in the browser and “earn a share of the ones that graduate.” It currently runs on Solana’s test network only, using play money.
  • The team’s wager is that the next wave of (meme)coins will be games people play on X, as well as tokens they trade.

The relaunched elixir.games is now a browser arcade. Games built with AI are hosted there, and some of them can turn into tradable coins.

The news came in a post from the @Elixir_Games account on X. “(Re)launching https://elixir.games,” it read. “Over a year of silence. No announcements. No hype. Just building.”

Our bet: the next generation of (meme)coins won’t just be something you trade, but games you play here, on X.

The post also laid out the company’s thinking. “Our bet: the next generation of (meme)coins won’t just be something you trade, but games you play here, on X,” @Elixir_Games wrote.

What the site offers now

According to the site, users make games with AI, play them in the browser and launch them once they’re ready. Its tagline says: “Play new games early, and you can earn a share of the ones that graduate.”

Real money isn’t part of it yet. The site calls itself “a test version” that “runs on Solana’s test network with test money that has no real value.” A banner on the page says “Running on Devnet: play money, not real funds.”

It goes on: “Seasons, scores and airdrops here are rehearsals.” There is no mainnet date, token launch or airdrop schedule listed.

The site lists a Mac app for building games and a monetization program for creators. It also has a scoring system, an Arena section for live play and a portfolio tracker.

Early numbers

So far the catalog is small, and most of it is made by users. On Nov. 7, when the site was checked, Tintide led the week with 14 plays. Pokegame had six and Candlespire four. Mint Street and Whale Cove logged two apiece.

There is no explanation on the site of what a game needs to hit before it can “graduate,” or how a graduated game’s share is divided among early players. Nor does it say if the ELIX token plays any part in the new product.

A new direction

The relaunch is a move away from Elixir’s original business. The company operated a PC game launcher that distributed web3 titles on several chains, and it published games too.

The last major funding announcement was on March 27, 2024. On that date the Barcelona-based company said it had raised a $14 million seed round from Square Enix, Solana Foundation, Shima Capital and other private backers.

The company said at the time that its Launcher carried more than 130 games and had over 500,000 registered unique users. That release described the ELIX token as a way to “safely simplify the web3 user experience via a game platform, marketplace, and launchpad.”

“This achievement reflects our commitment to innovation, unity, and excellence in web3 gaming,” said Carlos Roldan, who was named as CEO of Elixir Games in the March 2024 release. Neither he nor any other team member is named in the new X post.

The 2024 roadmap promised several things: the ELIX release, a launchpad and incubation program, and a five-tier Season Pass with exclusive initial game offering access. By the account’s own count, more than a year of quiet came before the relaunch post.

The new site has a plain message for anyone hoping to make money from it: “Running on Devnet: play money, not real funds.”
