In Brief:
- The Plooshies has released a fishing minigame for Plooshy Island only five days after the feature appeared on its roadmap, according to a post the project made on X.
- Rarity tiers, an inventory, a catch mechanic and 14 fishing spots scattered around the island are all part of the mode. A daily rotation is on the plan but hasn’t gone live.
- This marks the first publicized gameplay addition from the team since Plooshy Island — the Abstract-based multiplayer sim at the heart of the ecosystem — reached players.
What shipped
The Plooshies added fishing to Plooshy Island, five days after the feature went on the project’s roadmap.
“5 days ago we put Fishing on the roadmap. Today it’s shipped,” the project said in a post on X.

Built from zero in Unity — not a pre-existing feature:
– real catch mechanic + inventory
– rarity tiers (yes, a legendary lobster )
– 14 spots across the island
– daily rotation on the way

Launching alongside the mode are an inventory system and a catch mechanic, plus rarity tiers governing what players haul out of the water and 14 fishing spots distributed around the island. Among the rarity payoffs is a legendary lobster.
There are plans for a daily rotation as well. The Plooshies called it “on the way,” language that places it beyond the scope of this release.
Built in Unity
According to the team, the minigame was written from scratch instead of being flipped on from something already sitting in the build. The project said the feature was “Built from zero in Unity,” and “not a pre-existing feature.”
For a turnaround of five days, that distinction carries weight. Roadmap items in web3 gaming frequently show up as content that was already in the client and simply toggled on, and the assertion here is that fishing wasn’t one of those.
The Plooshies was also upfront that the release has rough edges. “Core works,” the post said, framing the release as a minigame rather than a complete system.
Where fishing fits
At the middle of the ecosystem sits Plooshy Island, a browser-based multiplayer life sim running on Abstract. Quests, challenges and rewards give its loop an Animal Crossing flavor, while the building system draws from The Sims. There’s no entry fee: players explore, drop in on other players’ houses and work through quests.
Fishing slots into that loop as a repeatable activity. Powering the island already are Plooshy Points, the off-chain reward earned through gameplay and community activity, which convert into $CUDDLE Coin, the in-game currency attached to progression and utility. Whether catches feed either of those systems wasn’t addressed in the post.
Underpinning everything is housing. The first NFT collection on Abstract was Plooshy Houses, capped at 454. After purchasing a Crystal Amplifier to spawn them, homeowners can mine Plooshy Crystals below their property, and they’re free to charge other players an entry fee to mine there — a market players set themselves. Customization doesn’t extend to the house shell, since the walls and roof constitute the static NFT traded on marketplaces including OpenSea. Interiors, however, are open.
A room in one of three apartment buildings is available to players who skip buying a house. The apartments are shared in hotel fashion and include no private gardens.
Background
March 2023 saw The Plooshies debut on Ethereum with a collection of 3,333 rigged and animated 3D models derived from 11 characters. Abstract came later, and the project now operates a lineup of casual browser and mobile games instead of one title.
The first prototype drew more than 10,000 players in 2023. June 2025 brought beta testing, which preceded a browser multiplayer launch that the team rebuilt from the ground up.
Arriving first on Abstract was Plooshy Pileup, a match-3 puzzle game spanning 100 levels across 10 themed worlds. Its story centers on Penelope, a red panda hunting for her missing brother. The game offers a Solo Adventure mode, Play2Win tournaments and a Daily Challenge with NFT-based Plooshy Apartments up for grabs.
Schedules have shifted more than once. In August 2024, the project telegraphed its Abstract move with Plooshy Island and the CUDDLE token pencilled in for the first quarter of 2025, before pushing the island’s target back to the first quarter of 2026.
An NFT isn’t required for Pileup or the island. Owning a Plooshy opens up extra content and benefits, while everyone else still gets access to the games.
