At long last, Grogu is a character you actually control. He isn’t cargo, he isn’t a mission objective you shuttle around the board — he arrives with abilities of his own and a story of his own.
That reveal sits at the heart of The Mandalorian: Adventures – Sworn to the Creed, an expansion due this Fall for the strategy card-and-board-game hybrid Unexpected Games put out back in 2024.
What the expansion actually adds
The set draws on the Disney show’s third season, and it delivers a full cooperative campaign supporting one to four players.
Three new characters ship with it. Grogu, The Armorer and one more, each with a distinct set of abilities, story and powers.
“I can’t wait for folks to see what we have in store for them with the Sworn to the Creed expansion!” Game Designer Joshua Beppler said. “We got to explore some really fun playstyles for some of our favorite characters.”
Characters aren’t the whole package, either. Fresh game systems and missions are included as well, and both slot into the base game and the Clan of Two expansion alike.
One of those additions hands you the controls. “With our new systems, you’ll have the opportunity to pilot the N-1 starfighter and attempt to outmaneuver new ‘High Alert’ enemies!”
When you can get your hands on it
You can already pick up the base game and The Mandalorian: Adventures – Clan of Two. A full release for Sworn to the Creed is still some way off, arriving in Fall 2026.
Players will see it before then, though. The expansion makes its debut in Summer 2026 at UKGE, Gen Con and GAMA, giving convention attendees the earliest look.
How the show got here in the first place
Its debut came in 2019, with a story set five years on from the events of 1983’s Return of the Jedi. The helmeted lead — a bounty hunter charged with keeping a Force-sensitive child safe from what’s left of the Imperial Forces — is played by Pedro Pascal.
From there, Grogu handled the rest. Fans latched on hard, and quickly.
Curiously, the whole thing traces back to money running short. Once George Lucas calculated that a live-action Star Wars TV series carried too high a price tag, he sold Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012. That deal is what set The Mandalorian — along with a stack of other Star Wars projects — in motion.
Now, with three seasons and 24 episodes behind it and a feature film titled The Mandalorian and Grogu on top, the series occupies the franchise’s center.
Throughout, the setup has remained deliberately small-scale — and that’s precisely what makes it work. One Mandalorian, Din Djarin, and a Force-sensitive youngster, wandering the galaxy’s outer edges, well beyond the New Republic’s grasp.
