The most famous photo-sharing social media app, Instagram, is now supporting multi-chain NFTs in its platform. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, had been talking about the metaverse and NFTs for a while now.
At first, the NFTs will come in the form of a limited pilot. Only a few artists from the US will be allowed to showcase their NFTs on Instagram. The users can buy the NFTs as well as tag the original creators of these non-fungibles.
According to CoinMarketCap, we may not have to wait a week as the NFTs could be announced as early as TODAY!
At first, However, not all users will be able to own or showcase their NFTs – only a handful of US-based creators will be given access.
Support for Multi-Chain NFTs
Unlike other platforms, NFTs on Instagram will not be limited to Ethereum. Polygon, Solana, and Flow-based NFTs will also be supported by the social media platform.
Along with multi-chain support, Meta will most likely support MetaMask – a decentralized exchange.
Instagram x NFTs – Will It Succeed?
Mark Zuckerburg has been creating hype around the integration of NFTs with his social media platforms – Instagram and Facebook.
At first, NFTs are coming to Instagram but Facebook will follow later. The massive userbase will be exposed to the world of digital collectibles – they will be able to see who owns these NFTs.
Currently, OpenSea is home to around 1.4M users. On the other hand, Deutsche Bank has reported that 44M users will be able to use the features by next year.
However, nobody can predict if this integration will succeed. What we do know is that a big chunk of the internet will now be exposed to the world of NFTs – whether they like it or not.
