Japanese Gaming Giants Observe Blockchain Gaming

Blockchain Gaming is slowly getting recognition from gaming giants such as SEGA and Bandai Namco.

The Oasys representative director Ryo Matsubara spoke to Cointelegraph at the 2022 Tokyo Games Show last week. He highlighted that the small section of gamers that are against non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and crypto integration won’t stop or influence the vision of blockchain integration into games!

Blockchain Gaming Thoughts From Ryo Matsubara

“We have a shared vision about blockchain at the executive level. They don’t [want to] change that policy. They really understand the future adoption of blockchain. They’re not thinking about, you know, just the revenue, they want to create the next future [of gaming].”

Matsubara said that this is an entirely new model and needs time to evolve before gaming studios integrate it into traditional games.

“When the model is fixed, becomes sustainable and successful, then strong [popular] IP will be added,”

Recently, Oasys announced that Square Enix, another Japanese gaming giant, joined Oasys as the final project of 21 initial node validators on its platform. Square Enix seeks to explore the development of new P2E games, and that belief was confirmed when back in May, Square Enix sold its famous Tomb Raider franchise and 2 of its gaming studios to invest in blockchain games. Wow!
