In Brief:

  • Season three of Proof of Distribution has wrapped on the Ronin blockchain, with payouts going to 163 builders according to how their applications performed.
  • Axie Infinity (official site), Craft World, and Ragnarok Landverse America led the field, between them walking away with more than 236,000 RON — roughly $11,800.
  • Payouts were heavily lopsided, as the leading applications absorbed the bulk of the tokens on offer.

Ronin’s third Proof of Distribution season wraps up

Ronin has concluded its third Proof of Distribution season, paying out 163 builders on the basis of an algorithmic score that measures how each app performs. Drawing on Dune data, that score weighs gas usage, user activity, retention, NFT volume, DEX liquidity, and smart contract execution.

First place went to Axie Infinity, which posted a score of 570 on the back of 7.6 million contract calls and robust DEX activity, earning 85,270 RON worth roughly $4,300. Craft World was not far behind in second, taking 53,275 RON ($2,600) after beating rivals on gas consumption and direct engagement. Third place belonged to Ragnarok Landverse America, credited for its busy NFT marketplace and contract interactions, with 38,228 RON ($1,900).

Concentration was the story of the season: the five highest-ranked applications claimed a commanding slice of the 236,000 RON handed out. Elsewhere, Pixels (official site) logged 1.4 million contract calls but was held back by weak snapshot growth, finishing seventh with 21,055 RON. Wild Forest (official site), Chicken Saga, and Fableborne (official site) also put up solid scores, driven largely by NFT transaction activity.

A pronounced power-law effect shaped the distribution, with scores falling off steeply beyond the 20th rank. Everyone from rank 23 through rank 35 collected the same payout, mainly a consequence of thin DEX and NFT engagement.

The message for Season 04 is straightforward: builders who want to climb the table need stronger multi-channel engagement, better retention, and higher trading volume.
