At a festival, a vampire angel rips open the throats of the crowd. A salaryman’s tabby swells to the size of a bus and begins one-shotting dungeon bosses. A scientist shoulders past her sneering male colleagues to dissect a dead kaiju as big as a city.
On Wednesday, Seven Seas Entertainment revealed seven new manga licenses, and the spread across them is broad enough that each deserves its own look.
The premise doing the most with the least
Volume 1 of My House Cat Became the World’s Strongest?! (Sodachi Sugita Tama) arrives in April 2027. The original novel comes from Tamaki Yoshigae, Hajime Yotsuyano draws the manga, and LINO provided the novel art.
Tetsuya is stuck in a miserable job at an exploitative company, and his housecat Tama is the only bright spot in his life. Then he comes home one day to find Tama has ballooned to an absolutely gigantic size — and the cat immediately marches him to a nearby dungeon and takes down the boss without breaking a sweat.
Tama hauls his owner around at high speed. Tama hands out empowering buffs just by purring. After the pair rescue a beautiful young streamer, their dungeon-clearing livestreams take off, and before long the whole world is tuning in for the cat.
Two takes on dungeons showing up in the real world
On the subject of livestreams: Influencer Hero: After Saving Another World, I Got Rich Streaming Dungeons! (Isekai-gaeri no Yūha wa, Dungeon ga Shutsugen Shita Genjitsu Sekai de, Influencer ni Narimasu!) is due in April 2027, written by Y.A. with art by Pecomaru Osaki.
Ryoji put in 10 years in another world amassing enough power to slay an evil demon lord. All he wants now is to be an ordinary teenager again. That plan collapses when dangerous dungeons begin surfacing in the real world.
His otherworldly abilities came back with him, but there’s something wrong about these dungeons — and he’s the only person capable of working out what. His answer is to livestream his runs, helping aspiring adventurers while fattening his wallet in the process.
The other end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it title goes the other direction entirely. Wandmaker of the Ruined World (Hōkai Sekai no Mahōzue Shokunin) lands in May 2027, with Nori Kazato adapting Hagane Kurodome’s novel and Kayahara credited on novel art.
Electricity vanishes worldwide in a single night. Ori Kenshi is a reclusive inventor holed up in the mountains of Okutama, quietly earning a living by crafting elaborate devices and anime weapons out of his workshop. Machines suit him better than people do.
Then a meteor slams into his garden. Carving it into a wand to kill time, he discovers that the meteors responsible for frying the planet’s power grids also delivered magic. As civilization unravels, his homemade wand may hold the key to whatever comes next.
The one where the extra ruins everything
Earliest of the batch is The Berserker NPC Unknowingly Destroys the World (Kyōsenshi na Mobu, Mujikaku ni Honpen o Hakai Suru), out in February 2027. Ryōsuke Satō adapts Narunoruna’s novel, with novel art by Eight Shimotsuki.
Albert, the youngest son of the noble warrior family the Falconers, has been reincarnated into a video game, though his recollection of it is hazy. He’s a nameless background character — someone who isn’t supposed to change a thing.
As Al begins to question his own existence, he enrolls at the Radford Royal Academy of Magic and finds that his sway over this world runs far deeper than he ever imagined.
The kaiju book is the interesting one
Mado Saitō’s The Kaiju Autopsy (Kaijū o Kaibō Suru) is slated for May 2027, and of the bunch it’s the pitch with the most going on.
Kaiju scientist Honda Akira is summoned to the autopsy site of a colossal kaiju known as Toukyo. In life the creature killed and destroyed on a massive scale. Now it’s dead. Probably.
Honda’s aim is to make sense of the unexplained activity surrounding the corpse and prevent future kaiju catastrophes. Getting the research done means enduring the contempt of her male peers and pushing back against team members who’d rather destroy the body for safety reasons. Then a new kaiju climbs out of the corpse and comes for her.
And two with fangs
The Moon Cries at the Final Wish (Saigo no Negai ni Tsuki ga Naku) by Suu Minazuki debuts in May 2027 and opens on that festival: childhood friends Shingetsu and Asahi look on as an angel appears, smiles, spreads her bloodstained wings and tears into the throats of the onlookers.
The angel is a vampire. Their tranquil island home becomes a slaughterhouse, and Shingetsu discovers he is one of the Seven Luminaries, the group charged with wiping out the vampiric threat.
Closing out the seven is Yukiko’s It’s a Secret, Shirotae-sama (Shirotae-sama, Himitsu Desu Yo), arriving in May 2027 under the Seven Seas GL imprint. Utao Hananoi is enrolled at an elite academy for vampires. Being human makes her food, so she says nothing about it.
Her secret comes out regardless — and to the last person she’d want knowing: Shirotae, the progenitor of vampires. Shirotae agrees to keep quiet. For now.
