From mobile-first to PC

Putting PC first flips the order of the game’s early testing, when builds went to phones before anything else.

After Playtest 1, Sky Mavis published an AMA recap that called Atia’s Legacy a mobile-first game, built for phones and not a scaled-down PC port. The team said it had internal PC builds for Mac and Windows, but a public PC version might launch only if demand justified it.

The studio also said controller support would come later, once gameplay had stabilized.

Three playtests so far

Playtest 1 was an invite-only alpha open to 1,000 selected community members. It was mobile-only and ran from Sept. 25 to Oct. 2, 2025. iOS players got in through TestFlight, and Android players installed an APK.

Sky Mavis originally targeted mid-March for Playtest 2 but delayed it to give the team more development time. It went live April 8, 2026, and was again limited to iOS and Android.

That build reworked combat. Instead of a squad of three, players controlled a single Axie, which made room for roles such as tank, support and damage dealer. It also brought five new weapons, new bosses and a risk-it-all extraction dungeon. If players lost all their HP inside, they lost their equipped items and their Axie could be permanently deleted. They could choose to extract early or keep going deeper for bigger rewards.

Playtest 3 was the first to include PC. It ran on iOS, Android and PC. Players downloaded the game through App.axie and signed in with an email and an invite code.

PvP and a paid tournament

Playtest 3 was devoted entirely to real-time PvP. Sky Mavis said it wanted to introduce the mode and stress-test server latency with large numbers of players queuing at the same time.

Each match dropped eight players into a five-minute free-for-all. Victory went to the first player to reach 10 kills, or to whoever had the best kill-to-death ratio.

Sessions ran from July 2 at 04:00 UTC to July 4 at 18:00 UTC. A separate session just for Mystic Axie owners ended June 30.

Entry to the Trial of Eight tournament cost 1 AXS, and it paid out 2,500 bAXS across three events. The main leaderboard held 1,500 bAXS, while The Kill Race and The Letter Race held 500 bAXS each.

Players got their entry fee back if they had a valid verified entry and played at least 10 scheduled Playtest 3 matches.

Background

Sky Mavis revealed Atia’s Legacy on March 5, 2025. The game takes place in Lunacia, and the studio’s first announcement listed it for mobile and PC.

Every playtest so far has required an invite code. Sky Mavis has told players without one to preregister and follow its social channels and the official Axie Discord to hear about future tests.

When it laid out its plans for Playtest 2, the team said it was aiming for a gameplay loop that would hold up over a thousand hours of play, and still be fun on the 200th hour, not only the second.
