Sky Mavis Ships Badge and bAXS Migration Tool as Waypoint Countdown to Sept. 16 Begins

Waypoint holders finally have the tool they were promised. Axie Infinity says a migration route for badges and bAXS has opened, sealing the final gap in a wallet transition that erases whatever is still sitting in place after Sept. 16.

“Move your badges and bAXS before Ronin Waypoint closes,” the Axie Infinity account wrote in the post unveiling the tool. “Anything left in a Waypoint wallet after that date is gone forever.”

That same day, Waypoint is rebranded as Ronin Stash. Built on Privy, Stash is a keyless wallet whose accounts are free and can be created with an email address or a social login. Anyone who prefers seed phrase self-custody can still use the original Ronin Wallet.

Why these two assets needed a tool

The majority of badges are dynamic, following whoever owns the underlying asset. A small number, though, are non-transferable ERC-1155 tokens tied to the wallet that minted them — among them the AxieCon and Axie Contributor badges that shipped with the original release.

bAXS carries an identical restriction. Bonded to whichever account earned it, it stands in for AXS at a 1:1 rate across Axie Core features and converts into AXS at a rate determined by the holder’s Axie Score. A smart contract backs every bAXS with AXS 1:1, and that AXS is released once the bAXS is burned.

Both items were still open questions when Ronin unveiled the rebrand in June. Sky Mavis pledged a badge portal “in the coming weeks” and described a bAXS fix as “actively being developed.” The studio has stated that badges and Axie Score will carry across regardless of whether a user lands on a Stash account or a seed phrase wallet.

What still won’t move

Atia’s Blessing streaks are not coming along. A smart contract binds the streak to the address that first activated it, and Sky Mavis said that on-chain design renders it non-transferable.

Fortune Slips are likewise stuck, and Sky Mavis advises burning through all of them before beginning migration. The same warning applies to Lunium, the off-chain Terrariums resource, which is also non-transferable — buy only what can be used up ahead of the move.

Progression in Axie Classic and Origins is still an open item. According to Sky Mavis, engineers continue to hash out the approach while weighing edge cases.

Nothing happens automatically

Tokens and NFTs will not migrate on their own. The work falls to Waypoint holders, who must manually shift assets into a Stash account or a seed phrase wallet using the portal at wallet.roninchain.com/app/migrating.

Those relying solely on a traditional seed phrase wallet have nothing to do. Ronin says email reminders and push notifications will go out to affected users throughout the window.

Waypoint debuted in 2024 as a universal account and keyless wallet for the Ronin ecosystem, relying on multi-party computation to split a private key into two or more shards. Ronin has said it created Waypoint at a time when onboarding infrastructure such as Privy had yet to mature and prove itself, and that the shift to Stash gives it room to optimize the first-time user experience.

bAXS launched in January, taking over from tradable AXS as the main in-game reward and constructed as an ERC20-C AppToken on Limit Break’s protocol. The switch reached Axie Classic rewards on April 7.

Ronin has justified the 90-day window by pointing to the development costs and network fragmentation that come with propping up legacy infrastructure indefinitely, adding that 90 days gives active users plenty of runway to make the jump.
