Axie Infinity Terrariums Explained: How Land Earns bAXS Every Hour and What Plots Cost Today

axie infinity terrariums explained how land earns baxs every hour and In Brief:

In Brief:

  • Axie Infinity AXS $1.05 ▼ -16.9% (official site) reported that 10,722 Land plots are now activated in Terrariums. Each plot earns bAXS every hour for as long as it stays powered with Lunium.
  • Every plot type has its own fixed bAXS pool. Owners divide that pool according to how much Atia’s Flame their axies, accessories, evolved parts and Land items produce in each hourly Tick.
  • On Oct. 17, the lowest-priced Savannah plot on the Axie marketplace was listed at 0.03888 ETH, or about $94.64. There were no Genesis plots up for sale.

According to Axie Infinity, 10,722 Land plots have now been activated in Terrariums, the passive earning system that took over from Homeland in June. Each of those plots is collecting bAXS on an hourly basis.

In a post on X, Axie Infinity wrote that “Lunacians are putting their Land to work and earning bAXS.” A follow-up post from the same account was more direct: “Keep your Terrarium powered with Lunium and your Axies can earn bAXS every hour, even while you’re away.”

Sky Mavis has described the system as “lightweight and passive by design” and as “gamified staking that respects your time.” Below is a look at how it works and what it costs to get started.

The basic loop

There are four steps: activate your Land, assign axies to it, burn Lunium each Tick, and collect bAXS every hour.

Players begin by visiting terrariums.axieinfinity.com, connecting a wallet, activating a plot and adding axies through the Registry. Those axies are then assigned to Atia’s Shrine, where they produce Atia’s Flame.

The Tick is the system’s hourly heartbeat. Once an hour, each plot uses up Lunium, pulls Flame from its axies and receives its portion of the bAXS pool for its plot type.

Earning is limited to NFT plots. Players who don’t own Land can claim a free plot to test the system, but that plot has only 10 axie slots and pays neither bAXS nor AXP. An owned plot can hold as many as 30 axies.

Traders should note one drawback. While they’re active in Terrariums, activated plots and assigned axies are locked, so they can’t be listed, transferred or sold on the App.Axie marketplace.

How rewards are split

Every plot type pulls from a separate, fixed bAXS pool. Arctic is one example: its monthly pool of 38,893 bAXS comes to 54.02 bAXS per Tick, divided among all Arctic owners.

The formula for a plot’s share is straightforward. Take the plot’s Flame, divide it by the combined Flame of all mining plots in its category, and multiply the result by that category’s bAXS pool. The more Flame a plot has, the bigger its share.

Base Flame depends on axie rarity. A normal axie contributes five Flame, while a Mystic contributes 1,000.

More inputs arrived with the V1.1 update, which co-founder Jeffrey Zirlin confirmed would roll out July 22. Evolved parts now add Flame, and rarer combinations are worth more. A Shiny axie with an evolved Shiny part adds 10 Flame. The same axie with an evolved Japanese part adds eight, and with a normal part it adds four. Stacking evolved parts on a single axie triggers a ×1.45 multiplier.

Accessories also count, with a limit of five per axie. Pairing a Mystic accessory with a Mystic axie adds nine Flame, while a Common accessory on a normal axie adds 0.1.

A plot can hold up to eight Land items. Their boosts are 0.05% for Common, 0.10% for Rare, 0.75% for Epic and 1.5% for Mystic. When an item matches the plot’s environment, it gets a ×1.2 multiplier on Savannah, Forest and Arctic plots and ×1.5 on Mystic plots. On Genesis and Luna’s Landing plots, every item gets a ×1.2 to ×1.5 multiplier.

Fortune Slips give a 10% Flame buff that lasts 24 hours. How many slips it takes depends on the plot type: three for Savannah, eight for Forest, 22 for Arctic, 48 for Mystic, 960 for Genesis and 2,880 for Luna’s Landing.

Paying for power

Lunium powers the whole system. It is an off-chain resource rather than a tradable token, and there are two kinds.

Local Lunium costs nothing. It takes roughly five days to recharge and provides one day of full-speed earning. Once it’s used up, the plot enters recovery. A quality-of-life update in July made it possible for Local Lunium to regenerate while players are spending Global Lunium.

Global Lunium has to be purchased, but it can be used on any plot and has no spending limit. It can be paid for with bAXS, AXS, USDC or WETH.

The entry-level packages are cheap. The Lunium Stash costs $0.99 for 25,000 Lunium. The Cache offers 131,250 for $4.99, the Vault 575,000 for $19.99, the Trove 1,562,500 for $49.99 and the Hoard 3,375,000 for $99.99. There is also a $9.99 Lunium Blessing that provides 11,000 a day for 30 days, for a total of 330,000.

Money from Lunium sales goes into a wallet controlled by Sky Mavis. The company said those funds support the Axie economy, for example through buying axies.

What Land costs right now

These were the lowest asking prices on the Axie marketplace on Oct. 17.

The cheapest Savannah plot was 0.03888 ETH, about $94.64, out of 38 listings. Forest plots began at 0.0575 ETH, about $139.96, also across 38 listings.

Arctic plots started at about 0.0896 ETH, roughly $218.06, with 46 listed. The lowest Mystic plot was 0.24 ETH, about $584.17, with 27 for sale.

These figures are asking prices rather than completed sales, and they shift as ETH moves. Anyone buying a plot to put straight into Terrariums should remember that activating it takes it off the market.

Background

Terrariums V1 launched June 17, and Homeland closed for good at 3 p.m. Philippine time that same day. Plots started out empty and spent their first 48 hours recharging, with the first earning Tick arriving June 19 at 07:00 UTC.

Sky Mavis first introduced bAXS, short for Bonded AXS, in a Feb. 10 update as an in-game token that runs alongside AXS. That update also named Terrariums as the replacement for Homeland.

Sky Mavis has also hinted at a V1.2 update that would add a Flame buff for axies that carry several collectible parts at the same time.

There’s no easy route into the top tier. Genesis Land is limited to 220 plots, and none were listed for sale on Oct. 17.
