My Lovely Planet spins its Web3 features into a standalone portal with build 3.3.0

My Lovely Planet’s Web3 features have been given an environment of their own. The studio took the game down at 2 p.m. CET for maintenance and, several hours later, confirmed the work had wrapped and that the portal was live on build 3.3.0.

“MAINTENANCE COMPLETE OUR NEW WEB3 PORTAL IS LIVE!” the studio wrote in a post on X.

The downtime had been announced earlier that same day. “The game won’t be available during this operation (1-2h expected),” the studio wrote, before adding: “This new release will give you access to our new Web3 environment!”

One to two hours was the window the team expected to need.

The plan came from a founder video

For anyone watching the account, the separation had been telegraphed. “Following Clément’s recent video, where he explained that we were moving all our Web3 features to a dedicated environment, we’re happy to announce that it is now officially LIVE!” the studio said.

The project dates back to 2021, when Le Bras founded it. Before that he ran Lilo.org, a search engine channeling money into social and environmental projects, which grew to roughly 6 million monthly active users and 10 million euros in revenue. A Mines de Paris graduate, he spent a year in Madagascar before moving into climate work full time.

What the portal covers

MLC is an ERC-20 utility token running on Polygon. It buys seeds, tickets, bonuses, skins and NFTs, while holders get a vote on which NGOs draw funding from the project’s Environmental Treasury. Holding a Lovely Protectors NFT unlocks exclusive items along with extra MLC.

Which of those components actually made the trip — and what, if anything, changes for existing MLC holders — has not been detailed by the studio.

Build 3.3.0 arrives after 3.2.0 in late June, 3.1.0 on June 9 and 2.9.1 on April 9. The earlier updates leaned toward content: 2.2.0, in April 2025, brought a Win Streak feature, two fresh scenes and 200 levels, while 2.1.0 added the Diamonds currency and a referral system.

Background

At its core, My Lovely Planet is a match-3 puzzle game. Each 100 levels a player clears pays for one real tree, and the studio counts more than 380,000 planted so far via NGO partners such as Graine de Vie in Madagascar. Its declared goal is 100 million players and 1 billion trees.

The team passed through the Ubisoft Entrepreneurs Lab at Station F and raised 2 million euros. In July 2025 Google picked it for the global #WeArePlay campaign — the first Web3 game to appear there — and it went on to be named among the Play Store’s top apps of 2025.

What sits behind the token is unusually blunt as economics go. The studio routes 85% of in-app purchase revenue and 5% of advertising revenue into open-market MLC buys, and earmarks 15% of global revenue for an environmental fund whose payouts are decided by DAO vote.

The portal move left one requirement untouched. Turning in-game diamonds into MLC still means staking at least $100 worth of the token.
