Monthly volume across Kalshi and Polymarket climbed from below $5 billion in September 2025 to almost $24 billion by April, Pew Research Center data shows. That trajectory is the backdrop to Gemini’s newly signed letter of intent with Apex Fintech Solutions.

On Monday, the crypto platform founded by billionaire twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss said it is teaming with Apex to distribute its regulated crypto prediction markets to brokerage firms. The agreement would make subsidiary Gemini Titan the exclusive regulated venue for crypto event contracts routed through Apex’s futures commission merchant to its brokerage clients.

A futures commission merchant, or FCM, is a regulated firm that manages customer orders and funds for futures and other derivatives trading. Execution and clearing would sit with Gemini.

The plumbing is the point

Consider what a brokerage gets out of it. As things stand, any retail brokerage that wants crypto event contracts on its menu has to wire up its own link to a prediction-market exchange — engineering hours, a compliance review, and an integration that needs ongoing upkeep.

With this setup, brokerages already on Apex avoid every step of that. Venue, execution and clearing show up bundled together.

Which makes this a distribution move rather than a product debut. Gemini isn’t constructing a superior prediction market here. It’s leasing out the one it operates to firms with no appetite for building their own.

Two licenses, 4 months apart

The regulatory scaffolding had to come first, and Gemini has assembled it step by step. In December 2025, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission granted Gemini Titan a Designated Contract Market license, allowing it to run a regulated derivatives exchange and offer prediction trading.

Then in April, the CFTC awarded a Derivatives Clearing Organization license to subsidiary Gemini Olympus. That milestone carries more weight than the name suggests, because it allows Gemini to run clearing and settlement for Gemini Titan internally rather than depending on a third-party clearinghouse.

Control the exchange, control the clearing, then line up a distribution partner. Apex is step three in a sequence rather than an isolated announcement.

“We believe that predictions are the future of markets,” Gemini CEO Tyler Winklevoss said in the release.

Why crypto firms keep landing here

Event contracts allow users to bet on how real-world events turn out. As these contracts push deeper into mainstream trading, sports, politics and cryptocurrency have become the dominant categories.

The heavy lifting — turning that concept into one of trading’s fastest-growing niches — was done by Kalshi and Polymarket. What remains is what everyone else is now competing for.

The reasoning is straightforward. Softer trading volumes have compressed revenue from conventional spot operations, pushing crypto firms toward prediction markets and other fresh products to broaden their income base. Fees from spot trading simply no longer cover it.

Apex and Gemini already know each other

The two companies aren’t strangers. Back in July, Gemini rolled out commission-free stock trading for select U.S. customers, with Apex Clearing Corporation serving as custodian and clearing broker.

They have therefore already taken an integration live together — a meaningful distinction from partnership news between firms that have never shipped a joint product.

Still, expectations deserve calibrating. A letter of intent is not a signed contract. Both sides said they anticipate finalizing the details of the prediction-market collaboration within the coming weeks, meaning exclusivity, timing and economics remain unsettled.

The Command Center layer

May brought the debut of Command Center, an intelligence layer built for Gemini’s prediction markets platform.

It folds SpaceXAI models into the Gemini app to supply real-time market summaries, sentiment analysis and tailored signals derived from a user’s portfolio and trading history.

Set that beside the Apex agreement and the strategy comes into focus. Command Center serves as the retail-facing surface; Apex functions as the wholesale channel. One exchange underneath, two entirely different routes for bringing users to it.

What to watch next

One detail will reveal whether the plan works: which brokerages actually switch it on. Apex reaches brokerage customers, but a distribution deal only becomes volume once those firms conclude that crypto event contracts justify the compliance discussion with their own regulators.

Keep an eye out for the first named brokerage going live on Gemini Titan via Apex. Short of that, this remains infrastructure waiting for a counterparty to plug in.
