Sales estimates from analytics firm Sensor Tower suggest that GTA 6 pre-orders shot up 436% in the days after the Netflix showcase, which aired on August 27.

That figure is a model-based estimate rather than anything Rockstar Games put out. Neither Take-Two nor Rockstar has released pre-order numbers of its own. Sensor Tower works from modeled sales data, and its model places the surge immediately after the extended look went public.

The number kept climbing after the broadcast

Over the following two days, pre-order purchases reportedly continued to rise. Cumulative pre-orders now sit at roughly 4.55 million units by Sensor Tower’s count, which the firm estimates works out to about $446 million in revenue.

The split heavily favors PlayStation. Sensor Tower’s estimates hand PS5 77% of the spending versus 23% for Xbox — roughly 3.51 million PlayStation units against 1.04 million on Xbox.

And all of this is happening well before the game’s November 19, 2026 release date.

What the showcase actually showed

Premiering on Netflix, the gameplay reveal handed fans an extended look at Vice City, the relationship between Jason and Lucia, combat, robberies, vehicles, police pursuits and a broad spread of open-world activities. Nothing Rockstar has shown before comes close in substance.

The presentation also stepped through in-game systems — exactly the sort of detail that pushes undecided buyers into committing. Players can swap between Jason and Lucia, stash weapons in vehicle trunks, and hail a taxi app to fast travel across Leonida.

That final feature is significant because of how big the world is. GTA 6’s map dwarfs those of GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, and fast travel is the compromise that keeps a map on that scale manageable.

Six stars, smarter cops

Six-star wanted levels have been confirmed by Rockstar. Police now run a sharper identification system that picks up on clothing, faces and other details, and the game includes a trick that lets players dodge chases entirely.

Minor details, sure — but the minor details are what got clipped and reshared nonstop for two days.

The frame rate argument didn’t slow anything down

Goodwill wasn’t universal here. A debate over the game’s performance is still running, fed by reports that GTA 6 may ship locked at 30 FPS on consoles. Those reports have not been confirmed.

Buyers appear unbothered. With extended gameplay finally public and no fresh delays on the horizon, the pre-order spike looks, in retrospect, like the only plausible result.

Sensor Tower’s model points to $446 million in reservations. Rockstar isn’t commenting at all.
