Three days. That is all Marvel's Wolverine needed to overtake the complete PS5 sales run of Death Stranding 2.
The figures come courtesy of analytics outfit Alinea Analytics, which published an image estimating that the new Insomniac Games release sold 1.9 million copies in the three days following its September 15 launch, bringing in $130 million in revenue.

By comparison, Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding 2 is estimated to sit at 1.8 million copies sold on PS5 with roughly $129 million in revenue. Wolverine passed both of those figures before its opening weekend had even ended.
Pre-orders carried the launch
According to Alinea, a full million of the 1.9 million copies were digital pre-orders placed ahead of release. Physical copies accounted for 22.9% of revenue.
The firm’s post is also clear about what falls outside these estimates: “As always, these estimates don’t include unsold retail copies, which publishers often report in their sold-in…”
That is an important distinction. Sold-through counts the copies actually in players’ hands, not the stock sitting on retail shelves waiting to be tallied by a publisher.
The biggest new Sony release of 2026, on this measure
Alinea’s data also places Wolverine above every other new PlayStation Studios title launched in 2026. Saros, Marathon and Marvel Tokon are all named, and the firm says Wolverine has now passed each of them commercially.
Both Marathon and Saros enjoyed their own spotlight this year. Based on this data, though, neither came anywhere near a $130 million opening.
Treat the numbers with caution for now
The caveat worth keeping in mind: neither Sony nor Insomniac Games has commented on Wolverine’s sales at all. Every number above is Alinea’s estimate rather than an official figure.
Third-party trackers frequently land close to the truth. They also miss sometimes, and the distance between 1.8 million and 1.9 million is narrow enough that a modest revision could flip the story.
An official account will probably surface in the days ahead. For the moment, the tracker’s chart is the only scoreboard available, and it shows Logan in first place.
