Skins now come with stat boosts

Of the four changes, only the skin system touches gameplay. Skins are unlocked through the in-game Shop, and according to the team they also boost stats, which means they do more than change a character’s look.

MattleFun hasn’t published stat values for individual skins. It also hasn’t said what they cost, which currency pays for them, or which characters get skins in this first wave.

A new character selection screen launches alongside the skin system. The update notes say nothing more about it.

How the game plays

Mattle Run is the platform’s debut title. It’s a vampire-survival game in which players dodge waves of monsters and try to survive as long as they can. It has three difficulty modes: Normal, Hard and Cursed.

The game has trading built in. Players link a Solana wallet, and whatever volume they trade through the platform’s terminal becomes Boosting Points. Those points raise character traits such as Health, Armor, Speed and Luck.

Points won in matches turn into MATTLE tokens. Mattle Run is free to play, but free players get limited features and can’t convert their points into MATTLE.

The Mattle Game Pass costs 0.03 SOL and gives 20 energy per day in Mattle Run. The Shop also sells perks that raise daily energy or multiply the points earned in each match.

Earlier Shop changes

The Shop has been reworked several times lately. In a previous update, MattleFun moved Medal packages from the MATTLE Shop to the SOL Shop. It also launched a standalone Medal Shop, whose first items were Pengu, Player2 and GibMeme.

The project’s token materials say MATTLE can pay for energy refills, stat boosts and point multipliers. It can also buy exclusive character traits or skins.

Background

MattleFun is built by Soluna Labs and won the Solana Mobile hackathon. The game has an Android version on Google Play and is also on the Seeker phone. The Android listing mentions daily energy, an Auto Run mode that keeps earning while the player is away, and a Risk Multiplier that pays bigger point rewards to players who take on more risk.

The team closed the first wave of the anniversary update with one line: “More surprises coming soon.”
