From Oct. 6, you can give your PSN profile a Spider-Man look without spending anything.
To celebrate the digital release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Sony is handing PlayStation Plus subscribers five PSN profile icons. Every icon features a character from the film: Spider-Man, MJ, Jean Grey, Ned Leeds and Frank Castle.
On its own, it’s a minor bonus. Still, it’s linked to the year’s biggest movie, and that counts for a lot with players who swap their avatar whenever a new trailer comes out.
You’ll need a different app to claim them
Don’t go looking in the PlayStation Store. The avatars sit inside the Sony Pictures Core app, and you’ll have to work through a few steps there to unlock them for free.
No Sony Pictures Core subscription? They’re still within reach. To qualify, you’ll first need to purchase the digital version of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The film also premieres digitally in that same app, which means one trip lets you stream the movie at home and collect the icons together.
A box office giant
Brand New Day arrived in theaters in July as the fourth entry in the MCU's Spider-Man series, picking up after 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker, this time coping with powers that won’t stay consistent and a fresh telekinetic villain whose actions endanger New York itself.
Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are also back. Joining the cast are Sadie Sink as Jean Grey and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle (meaning the Punisher is now available as an avatar, and many fans will likely choose him over Peter).
The records speak for themselves
The film began breaking records almost immediately. It is now both the highest-grossing Spider-Man film and the highest-grossing film of 2026.
On top of that, it ranks as the highest-grossing film in the United States and Canada, and the third-highest grossing film of all time. That’s quite a haul of accolades for a single release.
Critics were largely positive as well, so even if you pick up the digital copy purely for the icons, it’s unlikely to feel like a wasted purchase.
Picking your avatar
The set spans the entire cast: the hero, his two closest friends, the newcomer from the X-Men, and the man wearing a skull on his chest.
Circle Oct. 6, launch Sony Pictures Core and settle whether your PSN profile is going with Ned Leeds or Frank Castle.
