In Brief:
- Tavernlight Games will throw RavenQuest (official site) open to every player this Sunday, October 11 at 10:00 AM PT, running a public stress test of its Fortune’s Frontier mode.
- The session is aimed squarely at the mode’s new Map Sharding and Channel Scalability system — technology that divides map regions across channels and scales capacity up or down as player traffic shifts — and lands five days ahead of Season 0’s debut on October 16.
- Entry goes through the PTR Launcher using existing accounts, the studio anticipates a roughly two-hour session, and all progression gets wiped before launch.

A stress test, not a showcase
Tavernlight was clear that the session isn’t intended as a full look at the mode. One system is in the crosshairs: Map Sharding and Channel Scalability.
Fortune’s Frontier is engineered to handle big crowds sharing the same regions simultaneously. Individual map regions can spread across multiple channels, with capacity rising and falling in step with how many players are active in each. According to the studio, the test gives it a chance to “push that technology under heavier player loads, monitor how it behaves, identify potential bottlenecks and make further adjustments ahead of launch.”
The DevBlog and the tweet carry an identical rallying cry: “Bring your friends. Fill the islands. Break what you can.”
Getting in
The PTR Launcher download is available via the DevBlog. Players are welcome to install it ahead of time, though Tavernlight cautioned that a fresh update could still arrive and be required before testing begins.
A separate test account isn’t necessary — current RavenQuest and Fortune’s Frontier accounts both work on the PTR. One catch: the test will run from an account backup captured Sunday morning, so accounts created after Saturday night might not be available.
This is beta software, and the studio set expectations accordingly, telling players to “expect bugs, unfinished balance, and some rough edges.” Knighter has rewards in store for adventurers who take part.
Three islands, two-week seasons
Fortune's Frontier is a seasonal extraction mode built for solo players and duos, spread across three Pirate Isles of escalating danger. Sajecho sits at the safe end, where dying costs a player only the treasure being carried. Harbor pays out treasure more frequently but strips both inventory and treasure from anyone who falls.
Characters begin at an advanced level, erasing the typical progression divide between veterans and newcomers. Each season runs two weeks, with Solo and Clan Leaderboards resetting every cycle and a performance-based Reward Pool pegged to the QUEST token. The best Ravencards and cosmetics persist across seasons, while Emblems earned on the Frontier convert into XP and gear boosts back in RavenQuest.
Season 0 goes live October 16 at 8:00 AM PT.
The countdown to October 16
Tavernlight unveiled the mode in March, timed to RavenQuest’s first anniversary, and locked in the date during a studio livestream on September 19. The March post put the studio’s thinking simply: “More players. More activity. More ecosystem health. That’s the thesis.”
Running September 19 through September 29, the Frontier Carnival update handled the groundwork, introducing the clan system, ten pets and two Tiger mounts. A Twitch drops campaign continues through October 9, paying out RavenPacks at the 180 and 360 minute marks. As of Friday, the mode’s dedicated Discord server stood at 615 members.
“Fortune’s Frontier is our answer to the ‘progression wall’ often found in MMOs,” said Nicolas Schrik, CEO of Tavernlight Games, at the March reveal. The seasonal, skill-based format, he explained, gives the studio a way in for new players while handing veterans “a high-stakes challenge where every decision matters.”
