Steam page updated

On Steam, the release date is shown as “Coming soon,” alongside a note stating that Early Access starts Oct. 22. ChainVision Games appears as both the developer and the publisher.

Players have two ways to get into the game, and Steam is one of them. The Steam build is described on the official site as “100% playable. No wallet needed” and free to play. This version is a Web2 client that carries no NFT or blockchain requirements.

The second option is the Katana Inu Launcher, which covers NFT ownership and the play-to-earn features linked to the $KATA token. Those features remain optional on the launcher.

What’s in the game

Set in an anime-inspired world, Katana Inu is a free-to-play third-person PvP action title centered on sword combat. Players can choose from four modes: 1v1 duels, 3v3 team battles, free-for-all and battle royale.

Its Steam listing highlights fast, high-mobility fighting featuring grappling hooks and double jumps, along with character and weapon classes that each come with distinct abilities. The listing also states that the game isn’t pay-to-win.

PC players will need at least Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel i5 4th gen or AMD FX 6300, 8GB of RAM, a GTX 1050 Ti and 38GB of storage.

A long testing cycle

The early access launch follows more than a year of public tests. On June 30, 2025, ChainVision opened a beta to every PC user, requiring no registration, payment or token ownership.

At launch, that beta offered five playable characters, a single map and game modes on a weekly rotation. Players had the option to log in as guests or link wallets via MetaMask or WalletConnect, with a wallet required only for marketplace access and NFT minting.

Next, a public test of battle royale mode began Jan. 20, 2026, and a Steam demo followed. The Steam page thanks those who took part in the demo between April 14 and May 10, 2026, although the official site had promoted an April 11-21 demo window.

The token

$KATA operates on Ethereum, BNB Chain and Base. Within the game, it’s used for transactions like minting and upgrading items.

The token debuted via an IDO in December 2021 and has a max supply of 50 billion KATA.

Rappers PnB Rock, T-Pain, Desiigner and The Game are also named on the official site as promoters of the project.

The install size of the Steam client remains 38GB, and the listing still makes no reference to crypto, NFTs or the $KATA token.
