That familiar Mewtwo glare is back. Now it comes on a deep purple background, sits on your finger and carries a $134.99 price tag.
Pre-orders are live at the Pokémon Center for the “Mewtwo Metal Hybrid Ring by Enso,” an adult-focused ring built around a fresh design of the Legendary. The franchise has unveiled several redesigns of iconic Pokémon as it marks its 30th anniversary in 2026, and of all of them, this is the one I’d expect to sell out first.
A ring with a removable outer layer
The artwork is what sells it. Mewtwo wears its trademark intimidating stare against the purple backdrop, and the new design looks sharp.
There’s a gimmick as well. The outer section is made of titanium and comes off to reveal a silicone ring beneath. For now, sizes go from 6 to 13.
For a ring, that’s a lot of money. Still, Pokémon merchandise has kept disappearing as soon as it goes on sale this year, so I wouldn’t wait around if you want one.
The cheaper Kanto options
Anyone put off by the $134.99 Mewtwo price can look at two more Enso rings on the Pokémon Center, each listed at $44.99. One features Gengar, the other Charizard.
The difference comes down to material. You only get the silicone ring with these two, since neither includes the titanium outer layer. They come in the same 6 to 13 size range, though size 13 of the Gengar ring has already sold out.
The lineup is a logical one. Mewtwo, Gengar and Charizard all debuted in Gen 1’s Kanto region, were fan favorites from day one and share a long history with the series. The three have also been given Adidas shoes, new TCG cards and more as part of the 30th.
Why Mewtwo gets the premium treatment
Only Mewtwo got the metal version, and its past makes the reason obvious. For many fans in the ’90s, Pokémon: The First Movie (Mewtwo Strikes Back) was a watershed moment. Years later, the Evolution remake introduced the film to a new generation.
Mewtwo has been among the world’s most popular Pokémon ever since Pokémon Red and Blue first came out. Its design is one of the most iconic in the series, so the higher-end ring going to this Legendary feels right.
A year of anniversary drops
The ring arrives in a packed year. For games, the 30th has put FireRed and LeafGreen on Nintendo’s eShop and delivered Pokémon Pokopia on Switch 2 along with Pokémon Champions. Fans also got their first look at Gen 10's Pokémon Winds and Waves during a 30th anniversary stream in February.
Merch hasn’t let up. Last month saw the debut of the 30th Celebration collection for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, and demand for it is still high. Adidas, Stern pinball and Puma have each done collabs this year too.
The clearest sign of what’s coming for anyone considering the Mewtwo ring came this week. The Santa Cruz x Pokémon TCG skateboard decks went on sale and sold out instantly.
