Saturday’s El Clasico gave Kylian Mbappé two goals. Viewers got something else too: the GTA 6 logo, which kept turning up on the pitchside boards all match.

Rockstar Games paid for LED board space at Spotify Camp Nou for the October 25 La Liga meeting between Real Madrid and Barcelona, and its ads cycled through several times over the 90 minutes. The logo came with a brief line of text: “Coming November 19.”

November 19, 2026 is the game’s official release date, and Rockstar is still promoting it to fans. Players nervous about yet another delay got a reply from the studio’s own ad spend, placed during one of the most-watched club fixtures of the season.

One ad board, a huge crowd

Reports put the match audience at 650 million viewers. Nobody has independently confirmed that number, but even a small share of it means a lot of people saw a Vice City logo in between challenges.

Rockstar’s logic is simple. Anyone tuning in might end up playing on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders are already climbing, and an ad this prominent will probably send them higher. Pre-order revenue could top the 1 billion mark ahead of launch, although that’s a projection rather than a reported figure.

Zelnick called it

An executive’s words sit behind this campaign. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in September 2026 that GTA 6 still needs aggressive marketing, despite the hype and awareness already around it.

The El Clasico placement is that plan put into action. The decade’s most-hyped game has a publisher that is still buying ad boards.

Vice City has reached Miami

The football boards belong to a bigger campaign. Rockstar has also been doing real-world brand tie-ins, such as bringing Vice City’s Burger Shot and Cluckin’ Bell to Miami’s Kaseya Center.

Sports marketing isn’t new for the studio either. Rockstar teamed up with the Miami Heat for “A Night in Vice City,” a GTA 6-themed NBA game against the Milwaukee Bucks on November 18, the day before launch.

The Heat partnership is an easy fit, because Vice City is Rockstar’s take on Miami. Showing the game to a La Liga audience shows how far past its home market Rockstar wants this release to go.

Real Madrid won the match 2-1, and Mbappé scored both of Madrid’s goals. Every wide camera shot caught the boards behind him reading “Coming November 19.”
