In Brief:

  • On July 22, Sky Mavis launches Terrariums 1.1, a release that lets accessories, land items, evolved parts and Fortune Slips each contribute to a plot’s Atia’s Flame — the score that governs how big a slice of bAXS rewards it collects.
  • Landing roughly five weeks after Terrariums V1 launched on June 17, the update converts previously idle Axie assets into functional inputs for the very first time.
  • Co-founder Jeffrey Zirlin revealed the release date, noting that scarcer accessories and larger collections “will burn brighter.”

Sky Mavis is deploying Terrariums 1.1 on Tuesday, tying accessories, land items, evolved Axie parts and Fortune Slips into the formula that sets how much bAXS every plot brings in.

Co-founder Jeffrey Zirlin confirmed the July 22 rollout. “Terrariums 1.1 goes live tomorrow, July 22nd!” Zirlin said.

What’s being reworked is Atia’s Flame, the metric that fixes a plot’s portion of the reward pool. Under V1, nearly all of that figure came from the Axies a player stationed at the Atia Shrine. Going forward, four additional asset classes are factored in.

What accessories do

Every accessory lifts an Axie’s Atia’s Flame outright, weighted by the item’s rarity and the collection it belongs to. Each Axie can wear as many as five.

“Each Accessory will raise your axie’s Atia’s Flame. Rarer Accessories and deeper collections will burn brighter,” Zirlin said.

Accessories carry weight in both modes. Inside the Shrine they boost Flame, and while an Axie rests they accelerate its AXP. “Resting axies with Accessories equipped will earn AXP faster,” Zirlin said.

Not everything can be worn everywhere. Hip accessories are off-limits to the Spiky, Wetdog, Bigyak and Nightmare body types. Curly can’t wear cheek accessories, and Frosty is barred from neck and hip slots.

Land items get a job

For years, land items served purely as decoration. With 1.1 they now boost both Flame and AXP. Up to eight can sit on a single plot, and the AXP bonus scales with rarity — from 1% at Common up to 4% at Mystic.

“Decorate your land!” Zirlin said.

Evolved parts landed ahead of everything else, going live around July 15. They contribute Flame according to rarity, and the math favors concentration: loading five evolved parts onto one Axie reaches a ×1.45 multiplier and combines their Flame, whereas placing a single part on each of five Axies keeps all of them at ×1.0.

Fortune Slips complete the update as a short-lived buff. Using them grants a plot a 10% Flame boost lasting 24 hours. Because the boost doesn’t stack, buying more extends the duration instead of raising the strength, and each buff applies to a single plot. Players collect slips by owning a collectible Axie and praying to Atia each day.

A sink for old assets

Taken together, these changes move Terrariums away from being a strictly passive-earning setup and draw a larger share of the Axie economy into one loop: land, collectible Axies, accessories, evolved parts, land items, Fortune Slips, Lunium and bAXS. It also hands owners a reason to interact with holdings that had been gathering dust.

Terrariums operates on an hourly Tick. Each hour a plot consumes Lunium, mints bAXS and keeps running even when the owner is offline. Axies posted at the Shrine generate Flame and earn bAXS, while those kept in the Dojo train up AXP. Rarity has an outsized effect on Flame, as Mystic Axies produce 200 times what commons do. Owned plots accommodate 30 Axies and free plots 10.

Sky Mavis conceived Terrariums as a fresh start after closing down Homeland, its previous land game. V1 brought in $95,753 during its first week.

It’s still not a complete land game, and Sky Mavis hasn’t described it that way. The aim of 1.1 is more modest: to make the items players already hold matter on the plot they already own.
