Wearable contest

The submission window runs from Oct. 12 to Oct. 26. Prizes are spread across six categories: Slasher, Costume, Most Cursed, Creature Feature, Haunt Couture and Folklore & Legends. The winner in each category receives 5,000 MANA.

The post states that “Every entry must be a published Wearable.”

Entries will be judged on a 100-point scale. Originality is worth 25 points, and so is quality and technical execution. Theme fit is worth 20 points, as is creativity and detail. The last 10 points go to presentation.

According to the post, “Winners will be announced on October 27.”

Genesis Plaza and the Cursed Pond

On launch day, Genesis Plaza was redecorated for Halloween. New residents there give out tasks that earn what the post called “haunted rewards.” Decentraland’s post on X also said the plaza would get new mini games.

The Cursed Pond, a fishing event, opens on Oct. 19 and ends with the rest of the program on Nov. 2. The post says participants can win “limited-time Halloween rewards, including a Wearable.”

Three film series

Over the month, The Theatre will host three horror programs. Most of the films come from the silent era or the early years of sound.

WatchParty Wednesdays shows one classic a week, with screenings at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. UTC. The series opens on Oct. 7 with “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” (1920). “Nosferatu” (1922) follows on Oct. 14 and “The Old Dark House” (1932) on Oct. 21. The final film is “The Phantom of the Opera” (1925) on Oct. 28.

On Fridays, the Cult Horror Club runs double features at 5 a.m., 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. UTC. The Oct. 9 double feature is “I Bury the Living” (1958) and “The Little Shop of Horrors” (1960). The Oct. 16 pairing is “Plan 9 from Outer Space” (1959) and “Beast from Haunted Cave” (1959).

On Oct. 23, the club shows “Hands of a Stranger” (1962) and “The Devil’s Hand” (1961). Its final night is Oct. 30, with “Werewolf in a Girl’s Dormitory” (1961) and “Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave” (1971).

The third program is The Veil, an anthology series that airs on weekends. Episodes are shown at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. UTC on Oct. 10-11, Oct. 17-18 and Oct. 24-25.

Party on Oct. 27

The Genesis Plaza Theatre will host Spooky Takeover Tuesday on Oct. 27, where DJ Severus7 will play a one-hour Halloween set starting at 8 p.m. UTC. The Wearable contest winners will be announced during the set.
