The studio has been promoting the game for weeks. On Oct. 9 its account asked followers if they had tried Pumpkin Ball yet and shared a link to a Decentraland world.
How a match plays out
Pumpkin Ball is multiplayer dodgeball. The tagline in the project’s public code repository is “parry the pumpkin or be eliminated.”
A glowing jack-o’-lantern locks onto one player at a time, with a spinning ring showing who it’s chasing. The targeted player needs to time a swing to parry the pumpkin toward another player. Desktop players swing with the E key or a mouse click, and phone players tap the screen.
Everyone starts with three HP. Falling into the lava moat that surrounds the arena knocks a player out instantly. Whoever survives last wins.
Players join a queue on the lobby balcony. When two or more are ready, a 10-second countdown begins, after which the group is teleported into the arena for a “3-2-1” start.
Difficulty climbs as the round continues. Roughly 20 seconds into a match the Vampire shows up and brings escalating hazards: floor circles, green orbs, explosive pumpkins and fire rings with rotating gaps.
The lobby has a leaderboard ranking players by match wins. Pumpkin dummies are also there for swing practice before joining the queue.
Solo mode and server design
Away from the multiplayer arena, talking to the Vampire in the lobby launches a private solo adventure with five levels. It opens with the Pumpkin Lord tutorial, then moves through the Scarecrow, Skelly and a two-boss Wizzir & Witch stage before ending with the Vampire Master, who has a second phase.
Solo runs give players three hearts per level, and progress is saved on the server.
Regenesis Labs wrote the game in TypeScript on Decentraland's SDK7, with an authoritative multiplayer server. Target selection, parry timing, hits, eliminations and hazard hits are all decided by the server, while clients send only their inputs. According to the project’s documentation, that setup makes cheating harder.
Halloweeks and the wearable contest
Decentraland unveiled Halloweeks 2026 in an Oct. 5 blog post titled “Halloweeks 2026: One Night of Halloween Was Never Going to Be Enough.” The season continues until Nov. 2.
Events on the schedule include a haunted Genesis Plaza, Halloween quests, horror movie nights, community parties and limited-time rewards.
There is also a wearable design contest with 30,000 MANA in prizes, divided across six themed categories worth 5,000 MANA each.
For the length of the contest, the Decentraland Foundation is paying most of the publishing fee, which brings the cost for creators down to $5 per wearable. Entries opened Oct. 6 and closed at 12:00 UTC on Oct. 23. Winners are scheduled to be named Oct. 27, before a DJ set by Severus7, and prizes will go out Oct. 28 to the wallet each creator registered in the Shop.
What else Regenesis Labs has shipped
Regenesis Labs describes itself as the execution arm of the Decentraland DAO. Its work covers open-source tools and creator-focused tech, and it builds the Decentraland Mobile App.
The account pushed Halloween content on mobile on Oct. 5 with the post “Spooky season, now in your pocket🎃📱”. Two days later, on Oct. 7, it ran a community meetup at 7 p.m. UTC.
On Oct. 21 the group reported that all six projects funded in Season 1 of its Regenesis Grants Program had launched and could be played in Decentraland. Grants added up to $26,250 in MANA, and every one of the six projects has open-source code.
Proposals were scored by AI agents against criteria such as technical feasibility, creativity and marketing potential, and the Regenesis Labs team made the final calls.
Pumpkin Ball’s source code is available on GitHub under the dcl-regenesislabs organization, where the one-line description says: “Pumpkin dodgeball. Parry the pumpkin or be eliminated.”
