In Brief:
- Devcon 8 has set up a Game Zone in Mumbai for four days, where more than 15 teams are presenting games built on Ethereum, with NFT rewards and prizes on offer.
- According to the lineup graphic, the games include Axie Infinity (official site)’s Vibeathon, Bomber.world, Chaos Agents, Citadel, Frontier, Yield Fields (official site), Stomp, Voxlings and Onchain Heroes’ Maze of Gains.
- Art and game hackathons, a Lunar Rover Arena and a Nov. 3 chess tournament are also on the program.
Onchain games have their own space at Devcon 8. Across all four days of the Ethereum Foundation’s flagship conference in Mumbai, a Game Zone hosts 15-plus teams presenting games built on Ethereum, and they’re handing out NFT rewards and prizes.
The Devcon team announced the zone on X on Nov. 2, a day before the conference started. The @EFDevcon account called it “Four days of onchain gaming, friendly competition, and hands-on experiences in Mumbai.”

The conference takes place Nov. 3-6 at Jio World Centre, in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex.
The teams in the zone
The post came with a “Gaming Zone” graphic carrying 15 logos. Ten have names you can read: Axie Infinity AXS $0.8497 ▼ -11.5% under its Vibeathon branding, plus Bomber.world, Chaos Agents, Citadel, Frontier, Yield Fields, Stomp, Voxlings and Maze of Gains, which is the Onchain Heroes title. “Z3EVERSE” is written on a tenth logo.
A Realms mark sits inside the Frontier logo. The remaining five are icons without names: a pirate skull, a red pixel-art dinosaur, a pink planet, a green pixel slime and a green pixel skull.
In a separate X post, Onchain Heroes: World’s Eve said Maze of Gains will be playable at the Game Zone this week. Yield Fields, also on the graphic, comes from the same Onchain Heroes stable.
Hackathons, rovers and a chess tournament
Playable demos are only part of the program. Devcon included art and game hackathons in the zone, but the post didn’t give details on themes, judging or prize pools.
Hardware is in the mix too. The announcement says attendees at the Lunar Rover Arena can control miniature rovers and compete on a mock lunar surface.
On Nov. 3, the conference’s opening day, there’s a chess tournament.
How it fits into Devcon
In its “Know Before You Go” guide for Devcon 8, the Ethereum Foundation says the Gaming Zone is where attendees can “take a break between sessions, explore games, and connect with fellow attendees through some friendly competition.” For the zone’s full schedule, the guide sends people to the Devcon app.
Gaming showed up on Devcon’s side-event calendar as well. On Nov. 2, during Devcon week, BackersStage’s Onchain Dev City ran a Quest District set up as a live arcade of onchain quests and mini games, awarding NFT badges and leaderboard points for each tap.
Devcon hasn’t explained how Game Zone teams were selected or what the NFT rewards and prizes are worth. It also didn’t name the chains or layer-2 networks behind the games, saying only that they’re built on Ethereum.
“See you there!” the post said in closing.
