Gate.io has announced a brand upgrade to celebrate its 12th anniversary.
The announcement includes the adoption of a new Chinese name “Damen” (大门), meaning “The Gate,” symbolizing the company’s continued transformation and its long-term vision for a more accessible and diverse Web3 future.
A Decade of Growth and Innovation
Since its founding in 2013, Gate.io has grown into one of the world’s top cryptocurrency exchanges, now serving over 22 million users. It offers more than 3,800 digital assets and supports various trading options including spot, futures, and leveraged products. This strong performance has made Gate.io a reliable platform for crypto traders and investors globally.
Its native token, GateToken (GT), plays a central role in the platform’s ecosystem. Launched alongside the GateChain mainnet in 2019, GT once reached a peak market cap of nearly $3 billion and remains an important utility within the platform.
Focus on Transparency and User Trust
Gate.io has set itself apart by prioritizing financial transparency. It was the first major exchange to fully adopt a proof-of-reserves system. Partnering with Armanino LLP, the platform uses Merkle Tree verification, allowing users to check their own asset backing. As of early 2025, Gate.io disclosed over $10 billion in reserves, maintaining a reserve ratio of 128.58%—well above the industry average.
Strategic Partnerships in Sports and Beyond
To expand its global presence, Gate.io has partnered with leading names in sports. In 2024, the exchange teamed up with FC Internazionale Milano as their Official Sleeve Partner, gaining visibility in Serie A and UEFA Champions League matches. This collaboration connects crypto with global football audiences.
In 2025, Gate.io also entered a sponsorship deal with Oracle Red Bull Racing, becoming the Formula 1 team’s exclusive cryptocurrency exchange partner. The partnership aligns with Gate.io’s focus on performance and innovation.
